INTRODUCTION
The Financial Account Manager Manager (FAM Manager) leads and develops a team of FAM and FAM II professionals responsible for Utility Expense Management (UEM) and invoice processing services. This role sets strategic direction, monitors execution against KPIs and SLAs, and ensures accurate, timely, and compliant invoice processing across mid to large-size client portfolios. The FAM Manager balances people leadership, client engagement, and operational oversight to reduce risk, improve efficiency, and strengthen client outcomes.
Responsibilities
The FAM Manager is accountable for the overall performance, consistency, and effectiveness of the Financial Account Management function. This role establishes standards for invoice processing, exception management, documentation, and client communication while monitoring portfolio and team health. Operating with broad decision-making authority, the FAM Manager serves as an escalation point for complex invoice, payment, and disconnection issues and partners with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop FAM and FAM II team members
- Set strategic priorities and operational direction for the FAM function
- Monitor team performance against SLAs, KPIs, and quality standards
- Serve as final escalation point for complex invoice, payment, and client issues
- Ensure consistent execution of invoice processing, exception resolution, and reconciliations
- Drive defect reduction, root-cause analysis, and process improvement initiatives
- Partner with Operations, AP Extract, Bill Pay, and Product teams to resolve systemic issues
- Lead client escalations and executive-level discussions as needed
- Provide performance reporting, trend analysis, and risk insights to senior leadership
Leadership & Decision-Making Authority
Exercises independent judgment in prioritization, escalation management, and workload balancing. Decisions impact client experience, financial risk, compliance, and team performance. Responsible for reinforcing standards, coaching performance, and proactively addressing gaps.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Business, Finance, Accounting) or equivalent experience
- 6–10+ years of accounting, invoice processing, or utility expense management experience
- 3–5+ years of people leadership or team management experience
- Fluent in English with clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience managing outcomes through others in a client-facing environment
