Airport Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an airport manager in Texas?
Most Texas airports require candidates to hold a bachelor's degree in aviation management, public administration, or a related field, combined with progressive experience in airport or airfield operations. While Texas does not issue a state-specific airport manager license, the nationally recognized Accredited Airport Executive credential from the American Association of Airport Executives is widely required or strongly preferred by Texas airport authorities and large commercial operators when hiring for management roles.
How much do airport managers make in Texas?
Airport managers in Texas earn a median of about $100,700 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,380 for the lowest 10% to over $177,340 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire airport managers in Texas?
Employers hiring airport managers in Texas right now include American Airlines, Geometrics Engineering, and H W Lochner, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's scale of commercial, cargo, and general aviation activity means both public airport authorities and major private aviation operators maintain consistent airport management hiring throughout the year.
Which Texas cities have the most airport manager jobs?
Dallas, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and Fort Worth have the most airport manager openings in Texas, driven by the concentration of major commercial airports, cargo hubs, and corporate aviation facilities in those metros, with Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston anchoring demand through some of the highest-volume airports in the country and San Antonio contributing through both military-adjacent and commercial airport expansion.
Are there remote airport manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of airport manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the fundamentally on-site nature of airfield oversight, safety compliance, and operations management. The portions of the role most likely to allow remote work are administrative functions such as budget planning, regulatory reporting, and vendor contract management.
How can I get hired as an airport manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in an airport operations coordinator or operations specialist role at a Texas commercial or reliever airport, which provides direct exposure to FAA Part 139 compliance and airfield procedures. Large Texas airport authorities such as the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Houston Airports System, and San Antonio International Airport regularly post entry-level operations roles that serve as a practical pipeline into management. Pursuing the AAAE's Airport Certified Employee credential while in those roles signals readiness for advancement.
Where can I find and apply to airport manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to airport manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from airports, aviation operators, and related employers across the state. Find the roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly.
