Distribution Operations Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a distribution operations manager in Texas?
Most distribution operations managers in Texas start in warehouse associate, logistics coordinator, or shift supervisor roles and work toward management over several years. Texas does not require a state-issued license for this role, but a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or industrial engineering is increasingly expected by larger employers. Certifications from APICS, such as the Certified Supply Chain Professional credential, are widely recognized by Texas logistics employers and strengthen candidacy for senior positions.
How much do distribution operations managers make in Texas?
Distribution operations managers in Texas earn a median of about $97,550 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $87,110 for the lowest 10% to over $112,800 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire distribution operations managers in Texas?
Employers hiring distribution operations managers in Texas right now include SRS Distribution, HD Supply, and Petco, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's size and central location make it a hub for national distribution networks, so both regional operators and Fortune 500 companies with large fulfillment footprints post consistently throughout the year.
Which Texas cities have the most distribution operations manager jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and McKinney have the most distribution operations manager openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth's massive logistics infrastructure and intermodal freight corridors drive the bulk of postings, while Houston's port activity and petrochemical supply chains generate steady demand, and San Antonio's growing e-commerce and consumer goods fulfillment sector adds a strong secondary market.
Are there remote distribution operations manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Distribution operations managers typically oversee physical warehouse teams, equipment, and inventory flows that require an on-site presence, making fully remote work uncommon in this role. About 15% of distribution operations manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to involve network planning, vendor oversight, or regional coordination responsibilities rather than day-to-day floor management.
How can I get hired as a distribution operations manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a warehouse associate, inventory control clerk, or logistics coordinator at a large Texas distribution operation and advancing through shift lead or assistant manager roles. Employers like H-E-B, Amazon, and Target run structured leadership development programs at their Texas facilities that move high-performing hourly workers into management tracks. Completing an APICS Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution course while working entry-level gives candidates a measurable credential that Texas hiring managers recognize.
Where can I find and apply to distribution operations manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to distribution operations manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search for roles that match your experience level and location preference, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
