Operations Leader Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a operations leader in Texas?
Most operations leader roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or industrial engineering, though many employers also promote from within based on operational experience. There is no state-issued license specific to operations leadership in Texas, but credentials such as a Certified Supply Chain Professional designation or a Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification meaningfully strengthen candidates. Large Texas employers in energy, logistics, and distribution often develop operations leaders through internal management trainee programs.
How much do operations leaders make in Texas?
Operations leaders in Texas earn a median of about $103,230 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,190 for the lowest 10% to over $264,620 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire operations leaders in Texas?
Employers hiring operations leaders in Texas right now include Celestica, Kroger, and AAON, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, large retailers, and major distribution networks creates steady year-round demand for operations leadership at multiple levels.
Which Texas cities have the most operations leader jobs?
Richardson, Houston, and Austin have the highest concentration of operations leader openings in Texas. Houston's energy and port-driven logistics sector generates the largest volume of roles, while Dallas-Fort Worth's dense network of corporate headquarters, distribution centers, and e-commerce fulfillment operations sustains broad demand, and San Antonio's growing manufacturing and healthcare base is adding to its share of openings.
Are there remote operations leader jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Operations leader roles are fundamentally hands-on, requiring on-site presence to manage teams, facilities, and real-time workflows, so fully remote positions are the exception. About 6% of operations leader openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be senior strategy, program oversight, or regional director roles where direct floor supervision is handled by reports.
How can I get hired as a operations leader in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an associate or team lead role within a large Texas employer's operations function, then advancing internally. Companies like Amazon, HEB, and major Texas-based manufacturers run structured management trainee and operations associate programs designed for candidates without full leadership experience. Lateral moves from roles such as shift supervisor, inventory coordinator, or operations analyst are common on-ramps. A Six Sigma White or Yellow Belt certification or a completed supply chain fundamentals course gives early-career candidates a concrete edge when applying.
