Assistant General Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant general manager in Texas?
Most assistant general managers in Texas work their way up from shift lead, department supervisor, or floor manager roles within their industry. Texas does not require a state-issued license specifically for this title, but hospitality and food service employers typically expect a Texas Food Handler or Food Manager certification from an accredited provider recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services. A degree in business or hospitality management strengthens your candidacy, particularly at larger multi-unit operators.
Which companies hire assistant general managers in Texas?
Employers hiring assistant general managers in Texas right now include Jiffy Lube, Domino's, and Wendy's, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Texas's dense concentration of hotel brands, regional restaurant chains, and big-box retailers means hiring is consistent throughout the year across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most assistant general manager jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Austin have the most assistant general manager openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas drive the largest share of listings because of their size, tourism infrastructure, and headquarters presence for major retail and hospitality brands, while San Antonio's convention and tourism economy supports steady demand for operations-level management roles year-round.
Are there remote assistant general manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. The assistant general manager role is fundamentally on-site work involving floor supervision, staff scheduling, and day-to-day operations that require a physical presence. About 0% of assistant general manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those postings typically involve back-office or multi-unit coordination duties rather than location-based management.
How can I get hired as a assistant general manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an assistant manager role from a team lead or shift supervisor position within the same company. Large Texas employers in hospitality and retail, including hotel groups and regional grocery chains, regularly promote from within and run internal management development programs for high-performing hourly staff. Earning a Texas Food Manager certification and completing an associate-level business or hospitality program at a Texas community college signals readiness to employers evaluating candidates without a full management background.
Where can I find and apply to assistant general manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to assistant general manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search by city or area to see roles that fit your experience level and industry background, then apply directly to the ones that match.
