Manufacturing Operations Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a manufacturing operations manager in Texas?
Most manufacturing operations managers in Texas build toward the role through a combination of an engineering or operations degree and progressive floor-level experience. Texas does not require a state-issued license specific to this role, but employers consistently expect credentials such as a Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt and familiarity with OSHA 30-hour certification. Large Texas manufacturers typically promote from production supervisor and process engineer roles, so hands-on plant experience in petrochemical, aerospace, or food processing environments accelerates the path considerably.
How much do manufacturing operations managers make in Texas?
Manufacturing operations managers in Texas earn a median of about $130,890 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $79,780 for the lowest 10% to over $207,880 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire manufacturing operations managers in Texas?
Employers hiring manufacturing operations managers in Texas right now include Applied Materials, Amazon, and Apple, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy, aerospace, and food processing facilities means hiring tends to cluster around established industrial players with multiple plant sites across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most manufacturing operations manager jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Dallas lead Texas for manufacturing operations manager openings. Houston's refining and petrochemical corridor drives the largest share of demand, while Dallas-Fort Worth's aerospace, electronics, and consumer goods manufacturers generate consistent volume, and San Antonio's growing advanced manufacturing base, anchored by defense contractors and automotive suppliers, accounts for much of the activity in smaller or suburban markets.
Are there remote manufacturing operations manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Manufacturing operations managers are fundamentally on-site roles that require direct oversight of production floors, equipment, and shift personnel, so remote arrangements are the exception rather than the rule. About 1% of manufacturing operations manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and the positions that offer any flexibility tend to be senior-level roles with a heavy strategic planning or multi-site oversight component rather than day-to-day plant management.
How can I get hired as a manufacturing operations manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a production supervisor or manufacturing engineer role at a large Texas plant, then building toward operations management from the floor up. Companies such as ExxonMobil, Raytheon, and Tyson Foods run structured operations development programs in Texas that place candidates without direct management experience into rotational or associate supervisor tracks. Earning a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and logging OSHA 30-hour training before applying signals readiness to employers and separates candidates who are new to the title from those who are genuinely unprepared.
Where can I find and apply to manufacturing operations manager jobs in Texas?
