Job Summary

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing production materials, products, and services to support manufacturing and operational requirements. This role ensures timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and quality of purchased items while maintaining strong vendor relationships and accurate purchasing records.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and review purchase requisitions for accuracy, approvals, and completeness.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders in compliance with company policies.
• Source and evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and service.
• Track supplier acknowledgements and shipment dates to ensure on-time delivery.
• Escalate and communicate shipment delays.
• Collaborate with internal departments, including production, engineering, and quality, to meet material requirements.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and vendors with ERP System.
• Negotiate pricing and delivery terms with suppliers.
• Support inventory management by tracking materials, optimizing order quantities, and avoiding stock-outs.
• Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of purchasing processes, inventory management, and vendor relations.
• Proven negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with ERP or purchasing systems.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally (such as files or office supplies).
• Regular use of hands and fingers to operate office equipment (keyboard, calculator, phone).
• Work performed in a professional office environment with minimal exposure to noise, temperature changes, or other environmental factors.
