Program Analyst Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a program analyst job in San Francisco?
Focus your search on San Francisco's densest hiring pockets: federal and city government agencies near Civic Center, health systems anchored in Mission Bay and Parnassus, and financial services firms in the Financial District. Candidates who stand out locally combine data analysis skills with experience in government-adjacent or regulated industries. Familiarity with program evaluation frameworks, budgeting cycles, and cross-agency coordination gives a clear edge over generalist applicants in this market.
Which companies hire program analysts in San Francisco?
San Francisco program analyst roles are posted by University of California - San Francisco, The State Bar of California, and Turner & Townsend Pty Limited and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. The local market skews toward large public-sector agencies, major health systems, and financial institutions, all of which maintain dedicated program analysis functions.
Are there remote program analyst jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: analytical and reporting-focused positions are frequently remote, while roles tied to government contracts or on-site program operations tend to require in-person presence. About 100% of program analyst openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, reflecting broader patterns in the tech and civic sectors. Roles supporting federal or city agencies are most likely to require regular on-site days at Civic Center or Mission Bay offices.
How can I get a program analyst job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Francisco is through the city's public-sector pipeline: the San Francisco Department of Human Resources regularly posts entry-level analyst classifications that serve as formal on-ramps into program analysis work. City college internships, AmeriCorps placements with local nonprofits, and junior roles at health systems like UCSF or Zuckerberg San Francisco General also open doors. Demonstrating experience with spreadsheets, reporting tools, or grant tracking in any context strengthens an entry-level application here.
