Partner Development Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a partner development manager in California?
The partner development manager role in California has no state-issued license or board registration. Most California employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a technology-related field, followed by several years in channel sales, alliances, or account management. Strong candidates often move up from partner sales representative or business development representative roles at California-based software or technology companies, building a portfolio of partner programs and co-sell results along the way.
Which companies hire partner development managers in California?
Employers hiring partner development managers in California right now include TikTok, Intuit, and Klaviyo, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's density of enterprise software headquarters and cloud infrastructure companies means partner-facing roles open frequently and tend to carry broad regional or global scope.
Which California cities have the most partner development manager jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Santa Clara have the most partner development manager openings in California. San Francisco and San Jose lead because of the Bay Area's concentration of enterprise software, cloud, and SaaS headquarters, while Los Angeles reflects the region's growing base of fintech, media technology, and digital health companies that run active partner ecosystems.
Are there remote partner development manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 37% of partner development manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on video calls, digital co-sell platforms, and shared pipeline tools rather than on-site presence. Partner enablement, program management, and alliances strategy functions tend to be the most remote-friendly parts of the role.
How can I get hired as a partner development manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a business development representative or inside sales role at a California-based SaaS or cloud company, where you can move laterally into partner operations or channel programs. Large California employers like Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Palo Alto Networks run associate partner programs and rotational sales tracks that feed into partner-facing roles. Building a working knowledge of co-sell frameworks and earning a recognized partner certification, such as those offered by major cloud providers, strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
