About Hedrick Brothers Construction
Hedrick Brothers Construction is a premier commercial general contractor headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, with a growing Central Florida presence based out of our Winter Park office. Now in our 47th year, we’ve built a reputation on relationships, trust, and a culture grounded in GRIT: Growth, Resourcefulness, Integrity, and Team. We’re not just expanding into Orlando — we’re building a team that will plant roots there. This role is a critical part of that.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Business Development Manager — Central Florida is responsible for growing HBC’s presence and project pipeline in the Orlando market. This person is our face in the room: attending the right events, building the right relationships, and positioning HBC to win work across our target sectors. They work closely with leadership and preconstruction to identify and pursue opportunities, develop client relationships, and support the full pursuit process from first conversation to proposal handoff. This is a relationship-first role. We’re looking for someone who knows the Central Florida AEC community, understands how commercial construction projects are won, and has the drive and polish to represent HBC at every level — from a developer’s boardroom to a chamber breakfast.
What You’ll Do
Market Development & Lead Generation:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the Central Florida market across HBC’s target sectors: multifamily & mixed-use, healthcare & education, municipal & government, and hospitality.
- Research and qualify potential leads in both the public and private sectors; prioritize and present opportunities to leadership with supporting data and context.
- Monitor market activity, development pipelines, permit activity, and competitor positioning to stay ahead of emerging opportunities.
- Build and maintain a robust prospect pipeline in HubSpot, keeping contact records, pursuit stages, and follow-up activity current and accurate.
- Track, analyze, and report on pipeline activity, pursuit outcomes, and market trends to the Director of Development on a regular basis.
Client Relationships & Networking:
- Develop and maintain relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and key decision-makers across the Central Florida market.
- Represent HBC at industry events, association meetings, chamber functions, and client engagements — with the presence and professionalism that reflects our brand.
- Stay active in local organizations including chambers of commerce, ULI, AGC, and other relevant associations to build visibility and market intelligence.
- Identify and pursue public speaking opportunities and other platforms that generate positive exposure for Hedrick Brothers Construction.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, communicating HBC’s capabilities, differentiators, and value clearly and compellingly.
Pursuit & Proposal Support:
- Partner closely with Preconstruction to support RFQ and RFP responses, ensuring submittals are compelling, accurate, and aligned with client expectations.
- Coordinate go/no-go decisions with leadership, providing market context and relationship insight to inform pursuit strategy.
- Ensure a clean handoff from business development to project execution, working with leadership to align client expectations with internal capabilities.
- Support the development of presentations, qualifications packages, and other pursuit materials in collaboration with marketing.
Market Intelligence & Strategy:
- Evaluate industry trends, competitive positioning, and market conditions to inform HBC’s growth strategy in Central Florida.
- Provide regular feedback to leadership on market dynamics, client sentiment, and opportunity landscape.
- Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns targeting key sectors and clients in the Orlando area, including budget planning and collateral needs.
- Review and recommend tradeshow opportunities, sponsorships, and events that generate meaningful ROI for HBC’s Central Florida presence.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Bring To The Role
We’re looking for a relationship builder who knows how to open doors and keep them open:
The BD Professional
- 3+ years of business development, sales, or client relationship experience — commercial construction or AEC industry strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of building relationships that convert to revenue in a long-cycle, relationship-driven sales environment.
- Comfortable working a room and following up with discipline — you know the difference between networking and relationship-building.
- Experience working with or alongside preconstruction, estimating, or project delivery teams is a plus.
The Communicator
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills — you can present to a C-suite as comfortably as you can have coffee with a subcontractor.
- Strong proposal writing and presentation skills; experience supporting RFQ/RFP responses in a construction or professional services context preferred.
- Polished, professional presence with the ability to represent HBC’s brand with consistency and credibility.
Values-Driven
- Represents HBC’s GRIT values in every client and community interaction.
- Genuinely invested in the success of the team, not just the deal.
- Comfortable contributing in a values-driven, faith-informed workplace culture.

Preferred
- Experience in commercial construction, architecture, engineering, or a related AEC discipline.
- Existing relationships within the Central Florida developer, owner, or design community.
- Familiarity with the Orlando market — key players, active development sectors, and municipal processes.
- Experience supporting or coordinating RFQ/RFP responses in a GC or construction environment.
Additional Requirements
- This is an in-office role, out of our Winter Park office. Time away from the office for client meetings, site visits, networking events, and community functions is expected and encouraged.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings for networking events and functions.

- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- 401(k) with company contribution.
- Paid time off, holidays, and company-sponsored events.
- Expense coverage for networking, events, and client entertainment.
- The opportunity to build HBC’s presence in one of Florida’s fastest-growing markets — with the backing of a 47-year-old company that knows how to build.
