Program Supervisor Jobs in West Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a program supervisor in West Virginia?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in social work, human services, public administration, or a closely related field, followed by direct service experience in your target program area. For behavioral health or social services roles, the West Virginia Board of Social Work oversees licensure, and holding a Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Independent Social Worker credential strengthens your candidacy considerably. State agency roles under DHHR often require meeting West Virginia civil service qualifications as well.
Which companies hire program supervisors in West Virginia?
West Virginia program supervisor roles are posted by Mon Health, Sevita, and West Virginia University and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. State agencies, federally qualified health centers, and nonprofit behavioral health organizations account for a large share of consistent program supervisor hiring across West Virginia.
Which West Virginia cities have the most program supervisor jobs?
Charleston, Morgantown, and West Virginia have the most program supervisor openings in West Virginia. Charleston drives volume as the state capital and home to DHHR headquarters, while Huntington's concentration of health systems and Morgantown's anchor in WVU Medicine and state university programs pull strong demand in those markets.
Are there remote program supervisor jobs in West Virginia?
Yes, but they're rare. About 42% of program supervisor openings tied to West Virginia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the fact that most program supervisor roles require on-site supervision of staff and direct service delivery. The functions most likely to allow remote work are grant reporting, data oversight, and program coordination roles without direct daily staff management.
How can I get hired as a program supervisor in West Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a case manager, direct support professional, or program coordinator role within a West Virginia behavioral health agency, DHHR-contracted provider, or community mental health center. Large employers like Prestera Center, Valley Health Systems, and WVU Medicine regularly hire coordinators and associates who can move into supervisory tracks. Obtaining your Licensed Social Worker credential through the West Virginia Board of Social Work before you apply gives you a measurable edge over other candidates without supervisory history.
Where can I find and apply to program supervisor jobs in West Virginia?
You can find and apply to program supervisor jobs in West Virginia on Migrate Mate, which lists current West Virginia openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
