Project Controls Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project controls manager job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's Energy Corridor and Downtown, where EPC firms, major oil and gas operators, and industrial contractors concentrate their project controls functions. Candidates with earned value management experience on capital projects stand out in this market. Targeting midstream, refining, and large infrastructure employers first gives you the best entry point into Houston's project controls hiring pipeline.
Which companies hire project controls managers in Houston?
Companies currently hiring project controls managers in Houston include NuScale Power, ENFRA, and Quanta Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's market is dominated by major EPC contractors, energy operators, and industrial construction firms that staff large, multi-year capital programs.
Are there remote project controls manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role: desk-based functions like scheduling, cost reporting, and forecasting are more remote-compatible, while on-site field controls work is almost always in person. About 65% of project controls manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with most flexibility found at corporate headquarters roles in the Energy Corridor and Downtown rather than active construction sites.
How can I get a project controls manager job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through project controls coordinator or scheduler roles at mid-size EPC firms and industrial contractors, many of which train junior staff on Primavera P6 and cost control systems internally. Houston's refining and petrochemical sectors regularly bring on entry-level analysts to support large turnaround projects. Earning a CAPM certification and building proficiency in P6 scheduling tools gives candidates a concrete edge when applying locally.
Which industries hire the most project controls managers in Houston?
The sectors hiring the most project controls managers in Houston are Construction & Real Estate, Energy, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's role as the U.S. energy capital means capital project activity in oil and gas, petrochemicals, and large infrastructure consistently drives the strongest local demand for project controls talent.
