Tips for Your Prosthodontist Job Search
Highlight implant and restoration case volume
Hiring committees want to see the scope of your hands-on experience, not just your credentials. List the types of prosthetic cases you've completed, including implant-supported restorations, full-arch cases, and TMD treatment, so reviewers can gauge your clinical depth immediately.
Tailor your CV for academic versus private practice
Academic roles weigh publications, teaching experience, and research output heavily, while private practice postings prioritize production capacity and patient flow. Keep two versions of your CV and swap the emphasis depending on the setting you're targeting.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists prosthodontist openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Filter openings by board certification requirements
Some practices require American Board of Prosthodontics certification at hire, while others list it as preferred and will bring on candidates who are board-eligible. Know which category each posting falls into before applying so you're not wasting time on roles you're screened out of.
Prepare a digital case presentation portfolio
Many prosthodontist interviews now include a portfolio review or a case presentation round. Assemble high-quality before-and-after documentation of complex restorative cases, including implant planning images and occlusal analysis, and be ready to walk the panel through your clinical decision-making process.
Negotiate start date around credentialing timelines
Hospital-affiliated and DSO positions often require credentialing that adds weeks to your actual start date. When negotiating your offer, confirm whether the stated start date accounts for that process or assumes it's already complete, and get the credentialing timeline in writing.
Prosthodontist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most prosthodontists?
The companies hiring the most prosthodontists right now include Nova Southeastern University, ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers, and University of New England, with the largest share of openings in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Maine, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Academic health systems and large dental service organizations tend to post the highest volume of openings at any given time.
How many prosthodontist jobs are remote?
About 0% of prosthodontist openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most clinical roles. Remote opportunities are most common in consulting, treatment planning for DSO networks, and academic roles with significant administrative or research components rather than chair-side patient care.
How do you become a prosthodontist?
You become a prosthodontist by completing a DMD or DDS degree from an accredited dental school, then finishing an additional specialty residency in prosthodontics accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. After residency, you obtain state dental licensure and can pursue board certification through the American Board of Prosthodontics, which requires passing written and clinical examinations.
How do you get hired as a prosthodontist with little experience?
New-grad prosthodontists are most competitive for associate roles at group practices and academic faculty positions where mentorship is built into the structure. Emphasize your residency case volume, the complexity of prosthetic cases you've managed, any research or presentations from your program, and your proficiency with digital workflows, since many practices prioritize technology fluency in candidates who are still building their clinical track.
What does the prosthodontist interview process look like?
The interview process typically involves an initial phone or video screening with a practice administrator or HR contact, followed by an on-site visit where you meet clinical leadership and tour the facility. Many employers include a case presentation round, where you walk through complex restorative cases from your portfolio. Academic roles often add a teaching demonstration and a separate meeting with a faculty committee before an offer is extended.
