Quality Control Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality control manager in New York?
Most quality control manager roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in engineering, life sciences, or a related field, combined with progressive experience in quality assurance or manufacturing. New York does not issue a state-specific license for this role, but industry credentials carry real weight: the ASQ Certified Quality Manager designation is widely recognized by New York pharmaceutical, food, and defense employers as a benchmark qualification. Gaining experience in a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals or aerospace significantly strengthens your candidacy.
How much do quality control managers make in New York?
Quality control managers in New York earn a median of about $130,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,960 for the lowest 10% to over $206,450 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality control managers in New York?
Employers hiring quality control managers in New York right now include Curia, International Wire, and Consigli Construction, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New York's concentration of pharmaceutical manufacturers, food producers, and defense contractors means demand stays active year-round across the state.
Which New York cities have the most quality control manager jobs?
New York, Rochester, and Webster lead New York for quality control manager openings. New York City and its surrounding metro drive volume through large pharmaceutical, biotech, and consumer goods companies, while Buffalo and Albany reflect strong manufacturing and defense employer bases in western and capital region New York.
Are there remote quality control manager jobs in New York?
Yes, but they are rare. Quality control manager work is largely hands-on, requiring physical presence on production floors, in laboratories, or at supplier sites. About 6% of quality control manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be documentation-heavy roles such as quality systems auditing or supplier qualification that can be handled off-site.
How can I get hired as a quality control manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a quality control inspector, quality technician, or production associate at a New York manufacturer, then moving into coordination or supervisory roles over time. Large pharmaceutical employers in the New York City metro and food manufacturers in western New York regularly hire quality associates at the entry level. Earning an ASQ Certified Quality Technician credential and building familiarity with GMP documentation or ISO procedures gives early-career candidates a concrete edge when competing for their first management-track role.
