Entry Level Refrigeration Technician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level refrigeration technician job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for EPA 608 certification, which signals you can legally handle refrigerants and are ready to work from day one. Vocational training, an apprenticeship, or even a strong internship placement can substitute for years of experience. Highlighting hands-on coursework, any equipment you have worked on, and a willingness to learn on the job will give your application a clear edge.
Which companies hire entry level refrigeration technicians?
Companies hiring entry level refrigeration technicians right now include Walmart, Albertsons, and PECO FOODS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from commercial HVAC contractors, food retail chains, and facility services firms that run structured apprenticeship or on-the-job training programs.
Are there remote entry level refrigeration technician jobs?
Yes, though the majority of refrigeration technician work is hands-on and on-site by nature. About 0% of entry level refrigeration technician openings are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those roles typically involve technical support, diagnostics, or coordination work rather than field service. Most candidates starting out will find the bulk of openings require a physical presence.
Are these new grad refrigeration technician jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior refrigeration technician roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts a vocational certificate or associate degree in place of a work history, or explicitly mentions that training will be provided. Internship hours and apprenticeship completions also count toward eligibility on many of these openings.
Which industries hire the most entry level refrigeration technicians?
Entry Level refrigeration technician roles concentrate in Retail, Food & Beverage, and Distribution & Wholesale, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. These sectors drive consistent entry level hiring because they operate large refrigeration systems that require ongoing maintenance, creating steady demand for technicians who are early in their careers.
