Entry Level HVAC Technician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level hvac technician job?
Employers hiring at this level look for candidates who have completed a vocational program, trade school certificate, or apprenticeship in HVAC systems. EPA Section 608 certification gives you a concrete credential that stands out immediately. Internship hours, even brief ones, demonstrate hands-on comfort with refrigerants, ductwork, and electrical systems. Applying to companies that explicitly list 0 to 2 years of experience in their postings keeps you targeting roles built for this stage.
Which companies hire entry level hvac technicians?
Companies hiring entry level hvac technicians right now include Johnson Controls, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, and Jobot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. At this level, residential service companies, national facilities management firms, and commercial contractors are among the most active employers, as they routinely bring on newer technicians to support experienced crews and build their own pipeline.
Are there remote entry level hvac technician jobs?
Yes, though most roles in this trade are on-site by nature. About 3% of entry level hvac technician openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be support, coordination, or dispatch positions rather than hands-on installation or service roles. If field work is your goal, expect the majority of openings to require a physical job site.
Are these new grad hvac technician jobs?
Yes. Many of these openings are new grad and junior roles that welcome recent graduates and candidates just entering the trade. A new grad friendly posting typically lists 0 to 2 years of experience as the requirement, accepts vocational training or an apprenticeship in place of job history, and treats a strong internship or a relevant certification as equivalent to prior employment. Recent graduates who hold EPA 608 certification are well positioned for these listings.
Which industries hire the most entry level hvac technicians?
Entry Level hvac technician roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Construction & Real Estate, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they maintain large building inventories, run ongoing service contracts, or are expanding construction activity, all of which create consistent demand for entry level technicians who can grow into full service roles.
