Registered Nurse Jobs in Raleigh: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a registered nurse job in Raleigh?
The strongest path into Raleigh's market is targeting the large hospital systems and multi-specialty health networks concentrated in the Downtown medical district, North Hills, and the Wake County suburbs. Acute care, med-surg, and ICU roles see the most consistent openings. Candidates with experience in high-acuity settings or specialty certifications such as CCRN or CEN move faster through the hiring process in this market.
Which companies hire registered nurses in Raleigh?
Companies currently hiring registered nurses in Raleigh include WakeMed Health & Hospitals, UNC Health, and WakeMed, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Raleigh's employer mix skews toward large academic medical centers, regional health systems, and outpatient surgical networks serving the Research Triangle population.
Are there remote registered nurse jobs in Raleigh?
Yes, but only in a narrow slice of the field: bedside and procedural nursing is inherently on-site, while utilization review, case management, and triage roles are the most remote-compatible. About 2% of registered nurse openings tied to Raleigh are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, driven largely by health insurance and telehealth employers in the area. On-site acute care positions make up the large majority of total listings.
How can I get a registered nurse job in Raleigh with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point for new graduates in Raleigh is a structured nurse residency program at one of the city's large hospital systems, which are designed specifically for nurses with under one year of experience. Community hospitals and long-term care facilities in Wake County also hire new grads into med-surg units. Completing a clinical rotation at a Raleigh-area facility and applying internally gives candidates a meaningful advantage over outside applicants.
Which industries hire the most registered nurses in Raleigh?
Most registered nurse openings in Raleigh sit in Healthcare & Medical Services and Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Raleigh's position as the hub of a fast-growing metro with a large affiliated research university drives sustained demand across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care settings.
