Entry Level Release Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level release engineer job?
Entry level release engineer employers look for hands-on familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI, even from personal projects or internships. A portfolio that shows you've automated a build, managed a deployment pipeline, or written infrastructure-as-code scripts gives you a concrete edge. Certifications in cloud platforms and contributions to open-source projects also strengthen an entry level application at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level release engineers?
Companies hiring entry level release engineers right now include Stellantis, Capgemini, and Akraya, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Both large technology firms and mid-size software companies actively hire at this level, often through campus recruiting programs, internship-to-hire pipelines, and direct applications from recent graduates.
Are there remote entry level release engineer jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles are still common at the entry level. About 24% of entry level release engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so fully remote options exist but candidates willing to consider on-site or hybrid positions will find a broader set of openings to apply to when starting out.
Are these new grad release engineer jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior release engineer roles. A posting is typically new grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or project work in place of full-time history, or explicitly invites candidates with a strong portfolio. If a role says 'junior' or lists degree requirements without a strict experience minimum, it is worth applying to as a new grad.
Which industries hire the most entry level release engineers?
Entry Level release engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Automotive, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because they run continuous deployment cycles and need engineers who can build and maintain release pipelines, making entry level positions a practical on-ramp into DevOps and platform engineering careers.
