Position Summary
The Advanced Reliability & Maintenance Engineer is responsible for improving equipment reliability, availability, maintainability, and overall asset performance across manufacturing operations. This role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and EHS teams to develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance strategies, reduce unplanned downtime, optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
The Reliability & Maintenance Engineer utilizes data analysis, root cause failure analysis, asset management principles, and engineering best practices to maximize equipment performance, extend asset life, and support safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations.
This is a Hybrid role and will require domestic travel up to 75% and international travel up to 10%
What You'll do as am Advanced Reliability and Maintenance Engineer
- Develop and implement reliability strategies to improve equipment uptime and operational performance. Monitor asset performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle costs.
- Analyze equipment failures and recurring issues to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Support implementation of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies.
- Establish and monitor key reliability metrics including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
- Develop, optimize, and sustain preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs.
- Evaluate maintenance plans and equipment maintenance requirements.
- Develop maintenance procedures, job plans, standard work instructions, and equipment standards.
- Comply with all applicable cGMP, ISO and OSHA regulations

- Vibration analysis
- Thermography
- Ultrasound inspection
- Oil analysis
- Electrical monitoring
- Analyze predictive maintenance data and recommend proactive corrective actions.
- Identify failure trends and implement solutions before equipment breakdown occurs.
- Lead initiatives focused on reducing downtime, increasing equipment availability, and improving maintenance effectiveness.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Operational Excellence methodologies to improve asset performance.
- Support continuous improvement projects that improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance.
- Conduct benchmarking and best-practice evaluations for maintenance and reliability programs
- Participate in capital projects involving new equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvements.
- Ensure reliability and maintainability principles are incorporated into equipment design and procurement processes.
- Support equipment commissioning, startup, validation, and performance verification activities.
- Develop equipment criticality assessments and lifecycle management plans.
- Support compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in risk assessments, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), and safety investigations.
- Ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with established procedures and standards.
- Support audits and compliance inspections as required
- Support maintenance teams with troubleshooting complex equipment and system failures.
- Recommend equipment modifications and upgrades to improve reliability and performance.
The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial or related discipline
- 8+ years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, manufacturing engineering, or industrial operations
- 5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing, processing, pharmaceutical, medical device, sterilization, packaging, chemical, or industrial production environments preferred.
- 5+ years of experience with maintenance systems and asset management programs preferred.
- 4+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
- Technical specification development and document control
- Data analysis, cost optimization, and project management
- Communication, influencing, problem-solving, and stakeholder management
