About the Role
The Brand Studio team is responsible for shaping and expressing Motive's brand across every touchpoint—bringing clarity, consistency, and creativity to how we show up in the world. From integrated campaigns and product storytelling to always-on brand systems, we help Motive scale visually while staying distinctive, credible, and human. We collaborate closely with marketing, product marketing, content, growth, and regional teams to turn strategy into world-class creative work.
As our Video Editor & Motion Designer, you'll shape how Motive shows up in motion—turning ideas, footage, scripts, sound, and motion graphics into compelling stories that connect with our audiences and bring our brand to life. You'll take projects from brief to final delivery across campaigns, social, web, events, and other key marketing touchpoints, balancing editorial and motion craft with sound creative judgment and a clear understanding of business goals.
Working closely with partners across Brand, Marketing, Communications, and other functions, you'll help establish a distinctive and consistent motion language for Motive. You'll bring energy and rigor to every edit and animation, raise the quality of our video and motion output, and help the Brand Studio team create work that is polished, on-brand, meaningful, and effective.
This is a hands-on role for a thoughtful, highly collaborative editor and motion designer who can operate independently, navigate a fast-paced environment, and make smart creative decisions from first concept through final delivery. You'll have the opportunity to help define how Motive tells stories about the people, businesses, and industries that keep the physical economy moving.
What You'll Do
- Own video and motion projects end to end, from intake and story development through editing, animation, versioning, delivery, and post-launch iteration.
- Edit high-quality video content for brand campaigns, paid media and organic social, web, events, customer storytelling, and other marketing initiatives.
- Create and integrate motion graphics, typography, animation, and other visual elements that elevate storytelling and bring Motive's brand to life in motion.
- Translate creative briefs, stakeholder feedback, and performance insights into clear editorial decisions that improve quality, clarity, and effectiveness.
- Manage multiple priorities and timelines while maintaining a high bar for craft, consistency, and on-brand execution.
- Build strong working relationships with adjacent teams and contribute as a trusted creative partner in solving communication and storytelling challenges.
- Help evaluate and develop AI-assisted video workflows for scripting, footage exploration, versioning, and post-production, using emerging tools thoughtfully to improve speed and scale without compromising quality, originality, or brand integrity.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in video editing and motion design within an in-house brand, agency, production company, or creative marketing environment.
- A portfolio or reel that demonstrates strong editorial judgment, storytelling, pacing, motion design, and visual craft across multiple formats and channels.
- Deep proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or comparable editing software, with strong working knowledge of After Effects and modern post-production workflows, including file management, versioning, and delivery best practices.
- Strong working knowledge of motion graphics and animation, with the ability to create polished motion design as part of the editorial process.
- Experience managing complex creative projects with cross-functional stakeholders and driving work forward with limited oversight.
- A strong understanding of how brand systems and visual standards translate into effective, cohesive video content.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to synthesize feedback, evaluate trade-offs, and make sound creative decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- Videography, production, or on-set experience is a plus, but not required.
Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is one of Motive's core values. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives.

Tips for Your Remote Brand Designer Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote brand designer openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your skills and apply directly. Remote roles fill fast, so applying within the first few days of a posting improves your odds.
Build a portfolio that explains your thinking
Remote hiring teams can't walk through your work with you, so your portfolio has to do the talking. Write concise case studies for each project that explain the brand problem, your decisions, and the outcome. Figma prototypes and before-and-after comparisons make the reasoning visible.
Show async communication skills upfront
Remote brand designers pitch concepts, gather feedback, and align stakeholders entirely in writing. Include a brief written summary of your process in every application, not just a portfolio link. Loom walkthrough videos for complex identity work also signal you can communicate visually without a live meeting.
Target companies with existing remote design teams
Remote-first SaaS companies and distributed e-commerce brands have already solved the logistics of managing remote designers. Look for job postings that mention asynchronous workflows, distributed teams, or tools like Notion, Linear, or Figma because those signal a setup where remote brand designers actually thrive.
Remote Brand Designer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote brand designer job?
Remote brand designer roles go to candidates who can demonstrate self-direction and strong async communication, not just design skill. Remote hiring teams screen portfolios for strategic brand thinking, visual consistency across touchpoints, and clear case-study write-ups that explain your decisions without a walkthrough. Fluency in Figma, collaborative tools like Notion or Loom, and a history of delivering on distributed teams gives you a real edge.
Which companies hire remote brand designers?
Companies hiring remote brand designers right now include Motive, OKG, and Step, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Remote-first SaaS firms, direct-to-consumer e-commerce brands, and distributed digital agencies account for the bulk of ongoing remote openings in this role.
Can you get a remote brand designer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level brand designer roles are harder to land because you're expected to work independently from day one with minimal hand-holding. Smaller remote-first startups and early-stage DTC brands are the most open to junior candidates. A focused portfolio of three to five self-initiated or freelance brand projects, with written case studies explaining your process, carries more weight than a degree or internship history.
Do you need a degree for remote brand designer jobs?
Not always. Remote employers weigh portfolio quality, tool fluency, and demonstrated brand thinking far more heavily than a design degree. What opens the door is a cohesive body of work that shows brand identity from strategy through execution, paired with clear written communication skills, since remote teams collaborate in writing far more than in-person ones do.
Which industries hire the most remote brand designers?
Most remote brand designer openings sit in Retail, Staffing & Recruiting, and Technology & Software, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors rely on distributed creative teams to maintain brand consistency across digital channels without requiring designers to be co-located.
