Remote Computer Science Jobs

Are you passionate about computer science and love helping others learn? We're looking for a dedicated and engaging AP Computer Science Tutor to support high school students preparing for AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Science Principles. This flexible, remote, part-time position is ideal for college students majoring in Computer Science or a related field, recent grads, or experienced tutors who want to make a real impact in education.

Responsibilities

• Lead one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions for students enrolled in AP Computer Science A (Java) and/or AP Computer Science Principles
• Reinforce key topics including programming fundamentals, algorithms, data structures, internet and cybersecurity concepts, and exam strategies
• Help students work through homework, projects, multiple-choice questions, and free-response problems
• Track student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback
• Use tools like Zoom, Replit, and collaborative online platforms to deliver an interactive learning experience
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented learning environment

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or graduated from a Computer Science or related program
• Proficient in Java and comfortable explaining key computing concepts, including those covered in AP CSP (e.g., abstraction, data, algorithms, internet safety, and the impacts of computing)
• Familiarity with AP courses and the College Board, including exam structure, scoring, and how to support students through test prep and the Create Performance Task submission process
• Scored a 4 or 5 on the AP Computer Science A and/or AP CSP exams, or completed comparable college-level coursework
• Experience with virtual whiteboards, screen-sharing tools, and online coding platforms
• Strong communication skills and a student-first teaching approach
• Reliable internet connection and ability to work independently in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior tutoring, mentoring, or teaching experience

Introduction and teaching video recorded with Loom (required).

Record a short video (3 to 5 minutes) using Loom (loom.com) and include the shareable Loom link in your application. Using Loom is a requirement of this application. Videos recorded or shared through any other tool (Zoom recordings, YouTube, Google Drive uploads, phone videos, etc.) will not be accepted.

Your video must include:

• A brief introduction: who you are and your experience with AP Computer Science
• A short teaching explanation of one topic of your choice from the list below (from either the AP CSA or AP CSP list), explained as if you were teaching a high school student

AP Computer Science A:

• Recursion
• ArrayLists and array traversals (iteration)

AP Computer Science Principles:

• Abstraction and how it manages complexity
• How the internet works (data transmission, IP, and protocols)

Hours & Pay

• $40.00 per hour
