About ProductPlan
Since 2013, ProductPlan has helped more than 100,000 product leaders turn strategy into roadmaps their whole company can rally behind. With our acquisition of Winware.ai, we have fused our platform with AI-native product intelligence that helps teams decide what to build, why it matters, and how to win, before decisions become commitments. We have repositioned as the Product Intelligence Platform; we are reimagining our core roadmap platform to be the industry’s first communication tool, and we’re launching a net-new AI native product for the AI building era by 12/31/2026. We are backed by growth-equity investors, and we are climbing fast to double our ARR. We want a growth marketer who is ready to take this story to market and rev the growth engine behind it higher.
The Role
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for a builder, and right now it is a team of one. You will own ProductPlan’s demand engine: the strategy, channels, budget, and pipeline. You will report directly to our CEO, Steven Cohn, a four-time founder with four exits (most recently Winware.ai, and earlier Validately, acquired by UserZoom/UserTesting with other exits to Living Social and Trip Advisor), so you will learn GTM from someone who has built and sold category-defining products, and you will move at his pace. You are walking into a runway following an engagement with an AI GTM advisory team, so you start with clear segmentation, sharp positioning, a new Webflow website built for GEO discovery, completed demand tests, an AI-informed content program, and a clean CRM. Your headline opportunity is the kind that makes a career: launch a brand-new product into a new category, end to end, and own the demand story behind it.
Location: Remote (US); NY area or Denver preferred.
The Bet We Are Making
We believe one exceptional, AI-native operator, armed with agents, a meaningful budget, and a world-class product, can outrun a traditional five-person department. This is the first genuinely AI-native growth role at ProductPlan. You will write the playbook, with AI as your team and a four-time founder as your sounding board, and you will set the standard for how a modern product company grows.
Where You Will Focus
Great growth comes from focus. Each quarter you will zero in on the two or three bets that move the number, with AI agents and a few trusted freelancers extending your reach so your energy stays on the work that compounds. Your scoreboard is simple and visible: MQL and SQL volume against our ICP, and the pipeline and bookings you create from it.
What You Will Own
- Pipeline across paid and organic channels: paid search (Google), paid and organic LinkedIn, and the highest-ROI bets you uncover and prove out.
- SEO and GEO: own organic discovery and make ProductPlan the answer in AI-powered search and LLM results.
- Lifecycle and email: nurture, conversion flows, lead scoring and handoff, and reactivation of our existing database.
- Website conversion and CRO: landing pages, forms, and on-site experiences that turn visitors into pipeline.
- Events as a demand vehicle: pick the rooms our buyers are already in and make ProductPlan impossible to miss.
- The martech and measurement stack: HubSpot, Webflow, GA4, and Google Search Console, with attribution you trust.
- A ~$50K/month working budget: you decide where it goes, and you move it fast toward what is winning.
- The operating rhythm: a weekly CEO-facing pipeline dashboard and a monthly/quarterly planning cadence that keeps everyone focused on what matters most.
- The AI systems that power it all: the agents, automations, and internal tools that let one person move like a team.
- The creative to ship: design your own assets or direct freelancers and AI tools to get campaigns live fast.
How You Will Operate (AI-Native)
You already work like the growth architects who will define this era: mapping strategy to funnel stages, enriching audiences with data, and orchestrating AI agents to extend what a small team can do. You build your own tooling, automating signal detection, enriching account lists, personalizing outreach at scale, and creating internal tools that compound your leverage. You are signal-driven, AI-native, and full-funnel, and you are genuinely curious about where Directors and VPs of Product spend their time: the communities, events, and newsletters where they actually pay attention.
About You
- 5 to 7 years in demand generation, growth, or GTM at a B2B SaaS company. (Required)
- You are a builder: you create your own AI tooling and automations, and you will walk us through what you have built in the interview. (Required)
- A scrappy in-house operator at heart, energized by owning the whole funnel and multiplying yourself with AI.
- Breadth across the growth stack with meaningful depth in at least one: paid acquisition, SEO/GEO, lifecycle/email, or CRO.
- A track record of owning pipeline and running multi-channel campaigns you can speak to in detail: what you ran, what worked, and what you learned.
- Strong marketing-ops and analytics fundamentals: tracking, attribution, and funnel performance with expertise operating marketing automation systems, and an ongoing desire to learn and apply new methods.
- High agency and strong taste, energized by autonomy, urgency, and ownership of the outcome.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
Bonus Points
- Experience selling to product and engineering personas; experience identifying and curating community engagement with developers.
- Exposure to a GTM repositioning (new narrative, new ICP focus, new channel motion) tied to measurable pipeline.
How We Will Measure Success
- MQL and SQL volume against ICP (your primary scoreboard)
- Pipeline created by marketing ($)
- CAC payback period
- Pipeline-to-spend ratio
- MQL to deal rate on ICP contacts
- GEO citation rate in LLM outputs
Why This Role Matters
In a category long defined by static roadmapping tools and familiar names like Aha!, Productboard, and Jira, ProductPlan is building the tools of the future for how product planning, prioritization, and building is done, and you will sit right at the center of that move. You will have true impact from day one, the autonomy to ship fast and own the result, a proven founder in your corner, and an AI-native company where AI is core to how we build and operate. If you have been waiting for the role where you finally get to prove what a modern, AI-powered growth operator can really do, this is it. Compensation is $120,000 to $150,000 base, plus performance bonus eligible, and you will be building the growth engine for the next chapter of a category leader.

Tips for Your Remote Head Of Marketing Job Search
Quantify revenue impact on your resume
Head of marketing hiring managers want to see pipeline contribution, not just campaign activity. Replace vague descriptions with numbers: percentage increase in qualified leads, reduction in customer acquisition cost, or revenue attributed to campaigns you owned.
Tailor your portfolio to the company stage
A Series B startup and a Fortune 500 brand look for completely different things. If you're targeting early-stage roles, lead with zero-to-one growth stories. For enterprise roles, lead with cross-functional alignment, budget ownership, and team scaling examples.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists head of marketing openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target job titles beyond the exact match
Many head of marketing roles are posted as VP of Marketing, Marketing Director, or Chief Marketing Officer depending on company size. Search those variants too, then filter by headcount or funding stage to find openings that match your level.
Prepare a 30-60-90 day plan before interviews
Expect to present a first-quarter plan in later interview rounds. Research the company's current acquisition channels, competitive positioning, and any recent product launches so your plan reflects their actual situation, not a generic marketing framework.
Negotiate scope before you negotiate compensation
Before discussing pay, clarify budget ownership, team size, and whether the role has a seat at the executive table. Head of marketing roles vary dramatically in authority, and misaligned expectations on scope are harder to fix after you've accepted an offer.

How do I get a remote head of marketing job?
Target companies that already run distributed teams, since they hire remotely by default and know how to onboard someone they never meet in person. Apply to the openings above that match your experience.
Which companies hire remote head of marketings?

Can you get a remote head of marketing job with no experience?
Yes, but it is harder than an on-site role, because remote work expects you to operate independently from the start. Entry-level remote head of marketing openings do exist, especially at remote-first companies, and a portfolio of real work helps more than a long resume. Applying broadly to the roles that fit improves your odds.
Do you need a degree for remote head of marketing jobs?
