Tips for Your Remote Nursing Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote nursing openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your license, specialty, and experience level and apply directly without sorting through non-remote postings.
Highlight your EHR and telehealth platform experience
Remote nursing employers want to see which electronic health record systems and telehealth tools you've used. Name them explicitly on your resume, whether that's Epic, Cerner, or a specific telehealth platform, so hiring managers don't have to guess.
Demonstrate async communication skills upfront
Remote nursing teams run on written handoffs, secure messaging, and documented care notes rather than hallway conversations. Your cover letter and any written application materials are a live sample of how you'll communicate, so write clearly and precisely.
Confirm your license covers the employer's patient states
Many remote nursing roles serve patients across multiple states, and employers screen for multistate licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact participation early. Know which states your license covers before you apply so you can address it directly in your application.
Prepare for a remote clinical interview format
Remote nursing interviews often include scenario-based questions about working without on-site support, triaging patients via video, and documenting care independently. Practice walking through your clinical decision-making process out loud on camera before your first interview.
Remote Nursing Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote nursing job?
Target employers in telehealth, utilization management, case management, and health insurance who routinely hire nursings for fully remote roles. Remote nursing employers screen heavily for written communication, self-direction, and comfort with electronic health record systems, since you'll coordinate care without in-person backup. Certifications like CCM or experience in triage documentation give candidates a measurable edge in remote applications.
Which companies hire remote nursings?
Remote nursing roles are posted by Sentara, PSI, and Emory University and others right now, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. The employers doing the most remote nursing hiring tend to be telehealth platforms, managed care organizations, health insurers, and remote patient monitoring companies running distributed clinical teams.
Can you get a remote nursing job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level nursing roles are harder to land because you're expected to work independently from day one without in-person mentorship. Telehealth triage, remote patient education, and utilization review roles sometimes hire new graduates. Showing strong clinical documentation skills, familiarity with EHR platforms, and comfort with asynchronous communication helps open doors when hands-on experience is limited.
Do you need a degree for remote nursing jobs?
Usually, yes, because most remote nursing roles require at minimum an associate or bachelor's degree in nursing plus an active RN license. Remote employers weigh licensure, specialty certifications, and demonstrated clinical experience alongside your degree. Roles in case management or utilization review may prefer a BSN, while some remote patient education or triage positions are open to ADN-prepared nurses with strong documentation skills.
Which industries hire the most remote nursings?
Most remote nursing openings sit in Education, Technology & Software, and Healthcare & Medical Services, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Those sectors hire nursings remotely because their care coordination, utilization review, and patient outreach workflows run entirely through digital platforms, making location independence practical for qualified nurses.
