Key Role:
Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment as an Innovative Solutions Opening (ISO) Coordinator using your familiarity with Other Transactions (OTs) supporting the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). Enable the agency to manage and provide oversight of advanced research and development efforts; help shape future R&D concepts, programs, and solutions; integrate and advance our nation’s healthcare ecosystem processes, policies, and enabling technologies; and enable the agency to expand its healthcare and scientific scope into yet unknown areas. Provide direct support to R&D performer teams, Government Program Managers, and stakeholders across the health innovation ecosystem.
Assist with the development and administration of ARPA-H programs and projects across a Mission Office portfolio. Support the development of solicitations and related acquisition documentation; manage ISO proposals from receipt through disposition; track negotiations; and coordinate within the Mission Office and across ARPA-H for cost proposals and technical evaluations. Track metrics accurately and manage multiple parallel projects and tasks simultaneously on short timelines.
Collaborate effectively within a diverse team by building strong working relationships with scientists, engineers, contracting officers, IT professionals, and other advisors involved in the portfolio. Relentlessly own the end-to-end process and collaborate across teams, acting as the center point for effective progress, ensuring continuous momentum and effective data management using tools like Jira and Confluence. Communicate complex processes and concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences. Evaluate IT systems and processes, identify opportunities for optimization, and recommend functional improvements that enhance efficiency and effectiveness. You will interface directly and continuously with the Government Program Manager, Mission Office leadership, contracting and acquisition personnel, performer teams, and external members of the public — and are expected to represent Intertwine Associates and the client with professionalism, responsiveness, and sound judgment at every touchpoint by owning the process, serving as the go-to for any next step required to keep the process moving. This is a remote position with approximately 10-20% CONUS travel.

- At least one year of experience supporting DARPA or related federal “ARPA” agencies (IARPA, ARPA-E, HSARPA).

Tips for Your Remote R D Engineer Job Search
Showcase async documentation skills
Remote r d employers want engineers who can capture experimental methods, results, and next steps in writing without real-time back-and-forth. Include links to technical write-ups, lab reports, or research summaries in your application materials to show you communicate clearly across time zones.
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote r d engineer openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your background and apply directly without sifting through location-filtered results.
Demonstrate proficiency in remote R D tools
Call out the specific platforms you use for distributed research work, such as CAD software, simulation environments, electronic lab notebooks, or cloud-based data repositories. Remote employers want to know you can run your workflow without physical lab access from day one.
Prepare for asynchronous technical interviews
Many remote r d engineer hiring processes include take-home design challenges or recorded technical presentations instead of live whiteboard sessions. Practice presenting a design decision or experiment result clearly in writing or short video format so your reasoning comes through without real-time prompts.
Remote R D Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote r d engineer job?
Target remote-first companies and distributed engineering teams in biotech, defense technology, and industrial software, where async-capable r d engineers are in consistent demand. Remote employers screen for self-direction, strong written communication, and the ability to document experiments and findings clearly without in-person oversight. Proficiency with collaboration tools, version-controlled lab notebooks, and remote prototyping workflows gives candidates a measurable edge.
Which companies hire remote r d engineers?
Companies hiring remote r d engineers right now include Danone, Cwill, and ZS Associates, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Remote r d engineer roles are most common at remote-first technology firms, distributed medical device companies, and advanced materials organizations that run decentralized research teams.
Can you get a remote r d engineer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level r d engineer roles are harder to land because employers expect you to work independently from day one without on-site mentorship. Remote-first startups and contract research organizations are the most likely to hire early-career candidates. A portfolio of independent projects, open-source contributions, or documented prototype work demonstrates the self-direction remote employers need to see.
Do you need a degree for remote r d engineer jobs?
Not always. Many remote employers list a degree as preferred rather than required, particularly for r d engineers with a strong portfolio of applied work. Demonstrable skills in CAD, simulation tools, materials characterization, or lab instrumentation, alongside documented project outcomes, can substitute for or complement a formal credential in the remote hiring process.
Which industries hire the most remote r d engineers?
Remote r d engineer roles concentrate in Electronics & Hardware, Technology & Software, and Manufacturing, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Those sectors rely on distributed research teams and have invested in remote collaboration infrastructure that lets r d engineers contribute fully outside a central lab setting.
