Beacon Biosignals is transforming precision medicine for the brain, from clinical development to clinical care. For Life Sciences partners, we offer the leading at-home EEG platform for clinical development of novel therapeutics for neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders. Our Diagnostics business is building the most comprehensive at-home platform for precision diagnostics, combining EEG and cardiopulmonary signals to deliver reimbursable assessments for sleep and central nervous system disorders. Together, we're changing the way patients are diagnosed and treated for any disorder that affects brain physiology.
What you will be doing
Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join our Datastore team. The Datastore sits at the heart of Beacon's platform, defining our foundational data model and serving as the centralized repository and API for brain data collected from clinical studies and home sleep tests. As we expand our partnerships and real-world data integrations, we are looking for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of data platforms, customer needs, and applied problem solving.
In this role, you will work directly with Beacon's external partners to understand their technical use cases, guide integrations with our APIs and datasets, and develop integrated solutions that enable them to unlock value from Beacon's data platform. Internally, you will collaborate closely with Datastore engineers, product managers, and scientific teams to translate partner needs into robust data models, application features, and integration tooling, and to improve our ability to troubleshoot and resolve client issues at scale.
This role emphasizes deploying and extending Beacon's data platform in real-world partner environments. You will write production application and integration code against our PostgreSQL-backed GraphQL API, shipping features, tooling, and proof-of-concept integrations, primarily on Beacon's platform and potentially on a partner's, to help them succeed with Beacon's data.
This is an engineering role, held to the same technical bar as the rest of the Datastore team. You should expect to write SQL by hand, and to be assessed on the same coding and feature-design exercises.
What success looks like
- You work directly with external partners and customers to understand their data needs, analytical workflows, and technical constraints, and translate these into concrete solutions and application features built on Beacon's Datastore
- You lead technical conversations with partner engineers and data teams, supporting API integrations, successful adoption of data access patterns and practices, and downstream analytics
- You design, build, and ship solutions for customers, sometimes on the Beacon platform and sometimes on the customer's platform, to kickstart and expedite integration and provide examples that showcase and validate Beacon's data
- You collaborate with the rest of the Datastore team to develop internal tools, services, and queries that improve observability, troubleshooting, and resolution of client data issues
- You leverage feedback from partners and internal stakeholders to improve documentation, APIs, data models, and operational processes
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and balance pragmatism with rigor, delivering solutions quickly while maintaining high standards for data integrity, correctness, and maintainability
- You debug production data issues end to end - from a customer's report, through logs, pipelines, and the database - to a root cause and a fix
What you will bring
- 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering, data engineering, or data platform engineering, including hands-on application development
- 3+ years in a customer-facing technical role, delivering solutions directly to external partners or clients.
- Strong proficiency in SQL with production PostgreSQL experience; you write and tune queries by hand, and you're comfortable reasoning about schema design, indexes, and query plans
- Hands-on experience designing and maintaining operational data models
- Experience working directly with customers or external stakeholders to solve data-related problems, including requirements gathering, solution design, and delivery
- You work across the stack, querying and modeling data, and writing the application and integration code that ships to partners. Application development is a core part of this role, not an occasional one
- Proficiency in Python and/or Julia. Our Datastore stack is SQL, TypeScript, and Julia - experience with Julia is a strong plus but not required, and we welcome candidates eager to learn it
- Experience building and consuming APIs — our partner-facing surface is GraphQL — plus familiarity with integration patterns (REST, batch exports, ELT/ETL, event sourcing, and the like)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- A collaborative, customer-oriented mindset — you enjoy partnering across teams and organizations to solve real problems
Nice to have
- Experience working in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated data environments
- Comfortable querying a cloud data warehouse (we use Snowflake) and building the occasional dashboard (we use Superset)
We don't expect every candidate to check every box. If you're excited to build software at the intersection of data platforms, healthcare, and real-world partnerships, and care deeply about data quality and usability, we'd love to hear from you!

Tips for Your Remote Senior Forward Deployed Engineer Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote senior forward deployed engineer openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your stack and customer-facing experience and apply directly without sorting through unrelated listings.
Build an async-first technical portfolio
Remote employers want proof you can communicate complex technical decisions without a whiteboard. Document architecture choices, deployment walkthroughs, and customer escalation resolutions in written form or short recorded demos you can share during the application process.
Target remote-first teams with distributed customers
Companies whose customer base is distributed across regions are more likely to have established remote forward deployed programs. Look for organizations with enterprise SaaS products, multi-region infrastructure, or international customer success operations when filtering remote openings.
Prepare for asynchronous technical screenings
Remote interviews for this role frequently include take-home architecture reviews or written technical briefs rather than live whiteboard sessions. Practice producing clear, well-structured written solutions that a hiring team can evaluate without a real-time explanation from you.
Remote Senior Forward Deployed Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote senior forward deployed engineer job?
Remote employers in this role screen for autonomous problem-solving, strong async written communication, and the ability to run complex technical engagements without in-person oversight. Demonstrating customer-facing technical wins in your resume, documenting architecture decisions you've owned, and showing fluency in tools like Slack, Notion, and video-based demos gives you a clear edge over candidates who've only worked in office settings.
Which companies hire remote senior forward deployed engineers?
Employers currently hiring remote senior forward deployed engineers include Eliza, Provectus, and Cresta, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Remote-first software companies, enterprise SaaS platforms, and distributed infrastructure teams are the most consistent sources of these roles.
Can you get a remote senior forward deployed engineer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry into this role is harder because you're expected to manage customer relationships and technical escalations independently from day one. Early-stage or product-led growth startups sometimes hire junior forward deployed engineers remotely. Candidates who can show open-source contributions, technical writing, or self-directed implementation projects have a stronger path than those relying on credentials alone.
Do you need a degree for remote senior forward deployed engineer jobs?
Not always. Remote employers hiring for this role weigh demonstrated technical depth, customer-facing project outcomes, and practical engineering skills heavily alongside or instead of formal credentials. A portfolio of successful deployments, strong written documentation, and proficiency in the relevant stack can carry more weight than a degree at many remote-first companies.
Which industries hire the most remote senior forward deployed engineers?
The sectors hiring the most remote senior forward deployed engineers are Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Science & Research, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors rely on distributed technical teams to support complex enterprise customers across multiple time zones without requiring on-site presence.
