Qumulo's cloud data platform manages exabytes of the world's most demanding data, unifying files, objects, and every workload across edge, core, and cloud.
About the Role:
As Qumulo's Territory Account Executive in the NYC Metro for commercial and enterprise customers, you will grow Qumulo revenue and continue to build out your arsenal of customer connections.
This is a hunting role built on partners. The sellers who win here are in the city most of the week: badged into partner offices, running customer and partner meetings back to back, and pulling Qumulo into deals where it solves a real data problem. You'll manage your territory like your own business and get paid for what you close.
As a Territory Account Executive at Qumulo, you will:
Own a net-new business quota for the NYC metro and build the plan to hit it.
Work the partner ecosystem that drives deals in New York, deepening relationships with resellers and integrators like ePlus, SHI, WWT, CBTS, Polera, and Presidio.
Sell direct when it counts, including prospecting and identifying leads through a variety of channels, including industry research, networking, and referrals.
Get into the workflow to understand how customers actually use file and unstructured data so you can have line-of-business conversations.
Run discovery, demos (alongside Sales Engineering), and the full cycle through close.
Find opportunities in accounts where no one else is looking yet.
Work with Sales Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success to move deals forward.
Our ideal Account Executive will have:
5+ years selling enterprise storage, data management, or cloud infrastructure. Storage or data management means you can talk workflows. Cloud means you understand where data is heading. Either one qualifies you; both is a plus.
A track record of hitting and beating quota on net-new business.
Real experience working with channel partners. You know how to turn a partner relationship into pipeline.
Based in the NYC area and able to be in the city multiple days a week
A working understanding of enterprise IT buying: who the personas are, how decisions get made, where the budget sits.
A passion for technology and a strong desire to sell a best-in-class solution
Bonus points for experience selling a challenger product and winning on substance rather than brand recognition.
The annual pay range for the role is USD $224,000 - $320,000. This role has the opportunity to earn variable incentive compensation depending on the terms of the applicable plan.
Individual pay depends on various factors, such as role level, relevant experience and skills, and location. Pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the pay range applicable at the time.
Benefits & Perks:
Pre-IPO stock options
Flexible time-off policy
HSA and PPO health insurance options
Dental and Vision insurance
401(k) plan

Tips for Your Remote Storage Engineer Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote storage engineer openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your stack and apply directly without sorting through unrelated listings.
Show your async documentation skills
Remote storage teams depend on written runbooks, incident postmortems, and change-control notes. Publish sample documentation, a home-lab wiki, or a GitHub repo with your storage automation scripts to prove you can work without verbal handoffs.
Highlight remote monitoring and alerting experience
Remote storage engineer candidates stand out when they can speak to specific tools they use to monitor arrays, object stores, or cloud volumes without physical access. Name the platforms you know, the alert thresholds you set, and how you handled incidents asynchronously.
Earn a vendor or cloud storage certification
Certifications from NetApp, Pure Storage, or major cloud providers signal that your storage skills are verified, which matters more when a remote hiring manager can't assess you in a data center. Pair it with a hands-on project to make the certification concrete.
Practice the remote technical interview format
Remote storage engineer interviews often include a live troubleshooting scenario over video or a take-home architecture exercise. Practice walking through a storage design decision or a failure diagnosis out loud, clearly and without assuming the interviewer sees what you see.
Remote Storage Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote storage engineer job?
Target remote-first technology companies, cloud-native startups, and enterprise IT teams that run distributed infrastructure, because those organizations already have the tooling and culture to support remote storage engineers. Hiring managers screen for hands-on experience with storage platforms like NetApp, Pure Storage, or object-storage systems, strong async written communication, and a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and document without in-person backup. A home lab, public project, or clear runbook portfolio gives you a concrete edge.
Which companies hire remote storage engineers?
Remote storage engineer roles are posted by SOLV Energy, Qumulo, and Plus Power and others right now, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These tend to be remote-first technology firms, managed service providers, and large enterprises in cloud, financial services, and healthcare that run distributed infrastructure teams across multiple time zones.
Can you get a remote storage engineer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level storage roles are competitive because employers expect you to troubleshoot independently from day one without someone nearby to ask. Managed service providers and cloud-forward startups are the most likely to hire junior candidates remotely. To stand out, show a home lab setup, document your configurations publicly, earn a vendor certification like NetApp NCDA or a cloud storage badge, and demonstrate clear written communication skills.
Do you need a degree for remote storage engineer jobs?
Not always. Remote employers for this role weigh hands-on skills, vendor certifications, and a verifiable portfolio of storage work more heavily than a diploma, especially at companies running SAN, NAS, or cloud object-storage environments. A proven ability to manage capacity, automate storage tasks, and write clean documentation often carries more weight than a degree, particularly at remote-first organizations that evaluate candidates on output over credentials.
Which industries hire the most remote storage engineers?
Remote storage engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Manufacturing, and Energy, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Those sectors rely on large-scale, distributed data infrastructure that can be managed and monitored remotely, making storage engineering a natural fit for geographically spread teams.
