Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to take a key role in our external reporting process and broader corporate accounting initiatives. This is a hands-on, hybrid role with a strong technical foundation, responsibility for process improvement and automation, and the opportunity to impact multiple areas of our accounting organization—including support for M&A integration and innovation in reporting workflows.
We’d love to have you apply, even if you don’t feel you meet every single requirement in this posting. At Yelp, we’re looking for great people, not just those who simply check off all the boxes. This is a full-time remote role based in the United States.
What you'll do:
SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting:
- Lead the preparation, coordination, and review of quarterly and annual filings (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K), ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations.
- Draft financial statements, footnotes, and Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) disclosures.
- Perform technical accounting research; prepare position papers on complex topics (e.g., business combinations, segment reporting); and conduct detailed analysis and review of key accounting items such as cash flow statements and diluted EPS.
- Identify and evaluate upcoming accounting pronouncements, lead implementation of new standards, and clearly communicate findings to management, business partners, and auditors.
- Coordinate the review process with internal stakeholders, legal counsel, and external auditors.
- Oversee and mentor accounting team members, providing coaching, goal setting, performance feedback, and career development.
Corporate Accounting & Adhoc Projects:
- Assist with monthly/quarterly close activities, including reviewing journal entries and reconciliations related to stock-based compensation.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to streamline close and reporting workflows, with a focus on automation, AI-enabled solutions, and enhanced controls.
- Ensure robust documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls to meet SOX and audit requirements.
- Support special projects and ad hoc analysis, including M&A integration.
What it takes to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
- 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a public company SEC reporting role or with a Big 4 public accounting firm.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC rules; experience with Workiva is preferred.
- Proven ability to drive process improvement and leverage automation tools or AI within accounting or finance functions; experience with Oracle is a plus.
- Strong skills in developing, maintaining, and improving accounting documentation and policy materials.
- Detail-oriented and process-minded, with strong analytical skills to break down complex problems and implement scalable solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to partner across multidisciplinary teams and varying levels of staff to deliver results.
- Effective at delegating, mentoring, and supporting a team-oriented culture focused on process excellence and continuous improvement.
- Self-starter who thrives with minimal direction in a fast-paced, changing environment and embraces new technology and innovation.
What you'll get:
- Effective your first day: Full medical, vision, and dental
- 15 days PTO (accrual begins on date of hire and increases with 2+ years of tenure thereafter), 12 paid holidays, plus one floating holiday
- Up to 14 weeks of parental leave
- Monthly wellness subsidy
- Work from home reimbursement
- Flexible spending account
- 401(k) retirement savings plan
- Employee stock purchase plan
- Compensation range for this position is $118,000 - $199,000 annually. You may also be offered a bonus and benefits.

Tips for Your Remote Technical Accounting Manager Job Search
Tailor your resume to the standard
List the specific ASC codifications you've applied, not just 'GAAP experience.' Hiring managers want to see ASC 606, ASC 842, or ASC 805 named directly so they can match your background to the technical issues they're currently dealing with.
Highlight your memo and whitepaper output
Technical accounting managers are expected to document positions for auditors and regulators. If you've written accounting position papers, disclosure memos, or policy documentation, call that out explicitly. Most candidates skip this and it's a real differentiator.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists technical accounting manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target companies with recent accounting complexity
Companies that have recently gone public, completed an acquisition, or adopted a new revenue model face immediate technical accounting needs. Search for openings at those organizations first since they have the most urgent and substantive work.
Prepare a technical issue walkthrough for interviews
Be ready to walk through a real accounting issue you've researched and resolved, from identifying the applicable guidance to the conclusion you reached. Interviewers at this level test your research process, not just your knowledge of the answer.
Negotiate using scope, not just title
When you get an offer, ask specifically about the complexity and volume of technical issues the team handles annually. A higher-scope role justifies a stronger compensation ask, and asking the question signals that you understand what the job actually demands.
Remote Technical Accounting Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote technical accounting manager job?
Target companies that already run distributed teams, since they hire remotely by default and know how to onboard someone they never meet in person. Remote technical accounting manager employers screen hard for self-direction and clear written communication on top of the core skills, so show evidence you can own work without someone over your shoulder. Apply to the openings above that match your experience.
Which companies hire remote technical accounting managers?
Employers currently hiring remote technical accounting managers include Oscar Health, Oscar Health, and Kelso Industries, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first firms and large companies running distributed teams post the most remote technical accounting manager roles.
Can you get a remote technical accounting manager job with no experience?
Yes, but it is harder than an on-site role, because remote work expects you to operate independently from the start. Entry-level remote technical accounting manager openings do exist, especially at remote-first companies, and a portfolio of real work helps more than a long resume. Applying broadly to the roles that fit improves your odds.
Do you need a degree for remote technical accounting manager jobs?
Not always. Many employers hire remote technical accounting managers on demonstrated skills and prior work rather than a specific degree, though some larger companies still prefer one. Showing relevant results matters more than a credential for most remote technical accounting manager roles.

The sectors hiring the most remote technical accounting managers are Technology & Software, Insurance, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026.
