Job description
About this role
Join the Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG), a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team of forward-deployed engineers and data scientists at the forefront of applied analytics at BlackRock.
As part of the Aladdin Financial Engineering (AFE) organization, PAG designs, develops, and deploys advanced analytical solutions that combine Aladdin’s technology platform, financial models, and data to solve complex real-world investment and business challenges. Our solutions are used across BlackRock’s investment, product, and distribution organizations, helping drive better portfolio insights, support strategic decision-making, improve client outcomes, and contribute to winning new business.
The team works across the full spectrum of asset classes—including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and private markets—providing exposure to a diverse range of investment strategies, products, and client needs. PAG sits at the intersection of technology, analytics, and business, partnering directly with stakeholders to translate complex challenges into scalable, impactful solutions.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to join our San Francisco team and help build the next generation of analytical capabilities that sit alongside and extend the Aladdin platform. These tools support a broad range of use cases, including portfolio analysis, product strategy, sales enablement, client engagement, and increasingly, AI-powered decision support.
In this role, you will partner closely with product, distribution, and technology teams to identify high-impact opportunities, rapidly prototype solutions, and iterate based on real-world feedback. Success requires the ability to bridge sophisticated analytical concepts and practical business needs, creating fit-for-purpose solutions that integrate seamlessly into established workflows.
Successful candidates will wear multiple hats, acting as hands-on analytics developers, internal technology advocates, and business-oriented project managers. On the technical side, they will demonstrate a strong aptitude for learning our proprietary technology ecosystem, and for working with various programming languages and technology stacks. They should also possess technical fluency in AI, Python, and database languages, along with experience building end-to-end analytical applications. Equally important are the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and a solid understanding of financial markets and instruments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of complex, cross-functional analytics initiatives.
- Develop analytical products and frameworks that empower product teams, sales organizations, and clients.
- Partner closely with technical partners, product leaders, and client teams to define and execute against strategic roadmaps.
- Translate business challenges into scalable, data-driven solutions leveraging Aladdin capabilities.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, influencing decisions and helping shape strategic direction.
- Provide technical excellence through mentorship, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Communicate complex analytical concepts and business insights effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications & Experience
- 7+ years of experience across financial markets, analytics, and software engineering.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional analytics and technology solutions.
- Strong Python programming skills and experience working with large-scale analytical systems and production-quality codebases.
- Deep understanding of investment products, portfolio analytics, and investment workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
- Self-starter with a high degree of accountability, resilience, and follow-through.
- Strong collaborator with experience working across global teams.
- Passion for innovation and an interest in applying emerging technologies, including AI and advanced analytics, to solve real business problems.

Tips for Your Remote VP Engineering Job Search
Show your async leadership style early
Remote vp engineering hiring managers screen for candidates who lead through written clarity. Before applying, prepare concise written examples of how you've set technical direction, resolved cross-team conflict, and shipped product with a distributed team, all without relying on real-time meetings.
Find remote openings in one place
Migrate Mate lists remote vp engineering jobs from across the U.S. so you can search current openings by role, find the ones that fit your experience level and sector, and apply directly without chasing listings across multiple sources.
Target remote-first companies specifically
Companies built entirely on distributed teams hire vp engineers who understand remote operating models. Look for organizations that publish async engineering handbooks, use tools like Linear, Notion, or Loom as core workflow infrastructure, and promote remote culture as a structural choice, not a temporary policy.
Demonstrate remote engineering org design
Remote vp engineering interviews often probe how you structure an engineering organization across time zones. Prepare to discuss how you've handled on-call rotations, incident response, code review culture, and documentation practices in a distributed context, not just what you built.
Remote VP Engineering Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote vp engineering job?
Remote vp engineering roles go to candidates who can demonstrate autonomous leadership, strong written communication, and the ability to align distributed teams without in-person oversight. Remote-first companies and scaling SaaS firms tend to hire at this level remotely. What gives you an edge is a clear record of shipping product across distributed teams, comfort with async decision-making, and fluency in remote engineering culture.
Which companies hire remote vp engineerings?
Remote vp engineering roles are posted by Zeta Global, BlackRock, and Crystal Intelligence and others right now, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Remote-first technology firms, venture-backed SaaS companies, and distributed enterprise software teams are the most consistent sources of these openings.
Can you get a remote vp engineering job with no experience?
Yes, but remote vp engineering roles are senior by definition, so traditional entry-level paths are limited. Early-career candidates can target remote engineering manager or director roles at smaller remote-first startups, then build toward VP. What opens the door remotely is a demonstrated ability to lead without hand-holding, a strong async communication style, and measurable outcomes from prior technical leadership.
Do you need a degree for remote vp engineering jobs?
Not always. Many remote vp engineering roles list a degree as preferred rather than required, and remote employers in particular weight engineering output, leadership outcomes, and product delivery over credentials. A consistent record of building and scaling engineering teams, shipping reliable systems, and managing technical strategy carries more weight than the name on a diploma.
Which industries hire the most remote vp engineerings?
Most remote vp engineering openings sit in Banking & Financial Services, Technology & Software, and Healthcare & Medical Services, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors rely on distributed engineering organizations and need senior technical leaders who can operate effectively without a centralized office.
