Restaurant Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a restaurant job in Boston?
Focus your search on the North End, Seaport District, Back Bay, and South End, where restaurant density is highest and turnover creates consistent openings. Hotel dining rooms along Boylston Street and the waterfront hire in volume, as do the independently owned groups that dominate Boston's fine-dining scene. Candidates with ServSafe certification and experience on a point-of-sale system like Toast move faster through the hiring process here.
Which companies hire restaurants in Boston?
Companies currently hiring restaurants in Boston include Eataly, Sweetgreen, and Shake Shack, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Boston's hiring mix skews toward locally owned restaurant groups, major hotel brands with full-service dining programs, and hospital and university food service operators that maintain large, year-round staffs.
Are there remote restaurant jobs in Boston?
Yes, but only for specific roles. Most restaurant work is hands-on and on-site by nature, so fully remote positions are rare. About 0% of restaurant openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those are concentrated in corporate roles like menu development, catering sales, and regional operations management rather than floor or kitchen positions.
How can I get a restaurant job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Boston is a support role at a high-volume venue, such as a host, busser, or food runner position at one of the large hotel restaurants in the Back Bay or waterfront corridor. These operations hire frequently, train on the job, and promote internally. Boston's university dining programs, run by large contract food service operators, also hire entry-level staff in volume and are worth targeting as a starting point.
Which industries hire the most restaurants in Boston?
Most restaurant openings in Boston sit in Retail, Food & Beverage, and Technology & Software, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Boston's strong base of universities, teaching hospitals, and convention-scale hotels creates sustained institutional demand that keeps hiring active across those sectors even outside peak tourist season.
