PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The role of the Safety Technician is to provide oversight of the health and safety programs based upon HSE Cameron LNG Guidelines and ensure the application of these programs in the Cameron LNG Terminal facility following the technical and safety procedures and standards according with the Company business plan. The Safety and Health Technician assists in coordinating all facility activities that comply with health and safety and industry requirements including Emergency Response activities. The Safety Technician will report to the Health and Safety Manager.
This position must be available to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, or rotating shift according to company needs. This position will be located in Hackberry, Louisiana. Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) will be required. Employees’ primary residence must be located within a one-hour drive from the Hackberry plant site. This measure will assure that response time for callouts is kept to a minimum, which increases the safety of our employees in an unexpected or emergent situation.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with the review and training of all the health and safety programs
- Ensures the application of health and safety standards in all working procedures
- Strong background in Emergency Response Operations including ERT training. This position may be lead in Emergency Response
- Conducts Emergency Response training with the ERT members as well as assisting in off site training
- Reviews the work of others to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and departmental procedures, regulations, guidelines, and standards. This includes authorizing of high risk permits such as Hot Work and Confined Space Entry
- Provides health, safety, training and background materials for employees and visitors of the terminal facility
- Conduct continuous field walkthroughs to identify and mitigate physical, chemical, and environmental hazards (85% field presence required)
- Maximizes terminal performance, reliability and ensures adherence to health and safety policies, procedures and standards
- Be responsible for inspection of safety equipment (first aid kits, mobile equipment, AEDs, eye wash station, etc)
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in HSE policies, procedures and standards in industrial operations and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experienced in HSE policies, procedures and standards in natural gas process operations
- Experienced in industrial Emergency Response Team; preferably state certified as an Emergency Medical Technician or Emergency Medical Responder

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with terminal facility employees, vendors, and suppliers
- Possesses the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with management, peers and the various facility level workers who are all responsible for ensuring good operations
Preferred:
- Experience in HSE policies, procedures and standards in LNG terminal operations
- Knowledge of local industry standards pertaining to Safety and Emergency Operations
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb, run, sit, kneel, twist, bend, pull, push, carry, lift, reach overhead and drive. Most activities involve movement of either the upper and lower body extremities or both and the joints associated with these areas of the body
- Must be able to enter confined spaces
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and climb stairs and ladders that ranges from 4 ft to 200 ft
- Must be able to lift equipment needed to perform work
- Must be able to wear safety equipment such as safety harness, respirator and other protective equipment as needed to perform job
- When outdoors, this classification is exposed to extremes of heat, cold, loud noise and dust
- Must be willing to be on call, work outside of normal business hours as required and handle emergency response responsibilities
- Must be willing to travel for trainings and/or meetings as required

The U.S Department of Transportation (DOT) and the company have adopted regulations governing the control of drug use by persons in certain job classifications. This position is subject to the Federal Pipelines Regulation; and is stipulated in the 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) part 40 that requires drug and alcohol testing and must meet the testing standards.
