INTRODUCTION
The Yard Technician supports trench safety operations by inspecting, repairing, preparing, and staging equipment to ensure safe, high-quality readiness for field use. This role executes non-structural equipment repair, performs general equipment maintenance such as light fabrication, and minor welding repairs as needed to support yard operations and maintains an organized and safe yard environment, and completes accurate work orders and part tracking. Responsibilities also include assisting in equipment staging, cleanliness, return inspections, and customer site service when required.
The compensation for this position will be commensurate with education or work experience.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Inspects all outgoing and returning equipment to ensure it meets set specifications and safety standards.
- Cleans, repairs, and paints rental equipment upon return to ensure it is safe and ready for use.
- Completes work orders and service documentation accurately.
- Maintains a clean, safe working environment in the shop, yard, and weld areas.
- Travels to customer sites for field repairs or maintenance when required. Provides minor repair support at job sites, including basic welding where appropriate.
- Executes non-structural repairs or modifications per manufacturer specifications.
- Assists with fabrication projects as needed; escalates complex or structural welding work.
What You'll Need For Success:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience in equipment repair, yard operations, or related field preferred.
- Experience with trench shoring, metals, and materials needed for shoring/slide-rail repairs.
- Basic welding experience (MIG preferred) is an asset but not required.
- Ability to learn and safely perform minor welding repairs under guidance.
