Sales And Marketing Manager Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a sales and marketing manager job in Washington?
The strongest path into a sales and marketing manager role in Washington is through the city's government contracting and association sectors, which hire more marketing managers per capita than almost any other market. Candidates who understand B2G sales cycles, federal procurement, or membership-driven growth have a clear edge locally. Targeting mid-size contractors in the NoMa and Rosslyn corridors and national associations headquartered near Dupont Circle or the Mall tends to yield the most openings.
Which companies hire sales and marketing managers in Washington?
Employers hiring sales and marketing managers in Washington right now include ICF, Fors Marsh, and National Geographic, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Washington's hiring base skews heavily toward professional associations, policy-focused nonprofits, defense and IT contractors, and lobbying-adjacent firms that need marketing leaders who can communicate in a policy-literate environment.
Are there remote sales and marketing manager jobs in Washington?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: strategic and brand-focused positions tend to offer more flexibility than roles tied to in-person client development or government account management. About 72% of sales and marketing manager openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broad adoption across the association and tech-services sectors. Content strategy, digital marketing oversight, and campaign management functions are the most commonly offered in remote or hybrid formats locally.
How can I get a sales and marketing manager job in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Washington is through coordinator or specialist roles at national associations or mid-size government contractors, both of which promote from within and value political or policy communication skills. Entry-level marketing coordinator and business development associate positions at firms in the Bethesda, Crystal City, and downtown corridors frequently lead to manager titles within two to three years. Building familiarity with federal procurement marketing or membership engagement gives Washington candidates a concrete local edge over generalist applicants.
Which industries hire the most sales and marketing managers in Washington?
Washington sales and marketing manager roles concentrate in Education, Law & Legal Services, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Washington's unique concentration of federal agencies, national trade associations, and defense and technology contractors creates sustained demand for marketing managers who can operate at the intersection of policy, public affairs, and commercial growth.
