Tips for Your Sales And Marketing Manager Job Search
Quantify revenue impact on your resume
Sales and marketing manager roles get screened for results, not just responsibilities. Replace vague bullet points with specific outcomes: pipeline growth percentages, campaign conversion lifts, or year-over-year revenue tied directly to your programs. Numbers move your resume past the first cut.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists sales and marketing manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Tailor your resume to each company type
A resume that wins at a startup often loses at a Fortune 500. Startups want generalists who own both strategy and execution. Larger companies want evidence of managing budgets, cross-functional teams, and approval workflows. Adjust your framing to match the employer's structure before you apply.
Prepare a pipeline and channel breakdown
Interviewers for sales and marketing manager roles almost always ask how you allocate budget across channels or build a pipeline from scratch. Practice a concise answer that covers your decision-making process, how you measure performance, and one example of a channel you shifted resources away from.
Target openings that match your CRM stack
Many job descriptions list CRM or marketing automation tools as required, not preferred. If you have deep experience in Salesforce, HubSpot, or Marketo, filter your search for openings that name those tools so your application is a direct match rather than a stretch.
Follow up after final-round interviews strategically
For sales and marketing manager roles, a follow-up that references a specific business challenge discussed in the interview outperforms a generic thank-you note. Tie your follow-up to one metric or market problem the hiring team mentioned and briefly restate how your background addresses it.
Sales And Marketing Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most sales and marketing managers?
The companies hiring the most sales and marketing managers right now include Google, Ivy Living, and Amazon, with the largest share of openings in California, Texas, and New York, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Demand is concentrated in technology, healthcare, and financial services sectors.
How many sales and marketing manager jobs are remote?
About 38% of sales and marketing manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broad adoption of flexible work in this function. Digital marketing sub-roles, including demand generation and content strategy, tend to have the highest concentration of remote options compared to field sales or event-driven positions.
How do you become a sales and marketing manager?
Most sales and marketing managers start in individual contributor roles in either sales or marketing and build cross-functional experience over several years. Strengthening your analytical skills, taking ownership of campaigns or accounts end-to-end, and gaining familiarity with CRM and marketing automation tools positions you well. Demonstrating measurable results in a previous role is typically the deciding factor for promotion or hiring into a manager title.
Can you get hired as a sales and marketing manager with limited experience?
You can get hired as a sales and marketing manager with limited formal management experience if you can show leadership of projects, cross-functional collaboration, or ownership of revenue-driving programs in an individual contributor role. Employers in smaller companies or startups often promote based on demonstrated initiative rather than years managed. Building a portfolio of campaigns with clear outcomes strengthens your case significantly.
What does the sales and marketing manager interview process look like?
The sales and marketing manager interview process typically includes an initial recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation focused on past results and leadership style, and a final panel or case study round. Case study exercises often ask you to outline a go-to-market strategy, diagnose an underperforming campaign, or present a pipeline-building plan. References and a work sample or portfolio review are common in later stages.
Where can I find and apply to sales and marketing manager jobs?
You can find and apply to sales and marketing manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that match your background and apply directly to each listing without needing to go anywhere else.
