Tips for Your Wholesale Account Executive Job Search
Quantify your book of business
Hiring managers for wholesale roles want to see revenue numbers, not just responsibilities. Pull your actual territory revenue, new account count, and year-over-year growth from past roles and put them in your bullet points, not in a summary paragraph.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists wholesale account executive openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Tailor your resume to the vertical
A resume strong for a wholesale food distributor will read flat to a building materials buyer. Swap in the industry's channel language, product category terms, and buyer types so recruiters immediately see you understand their specific distribution model.
Target accounts with matching channel structures
Look at the job posting's customer list or territory description before you apply. If you've sold into independent retailers, flag that directly. If they need big-box or national chain experience and you don't have it, address the gap in your cover letter rather than hoping no one notices.
Prepare a deal story for interviews
Most wholesale account executive interviews include a situational question about a tough account you turned around or a new account you opened from scratch. Write out two specific stories in advance with a clear problem, your actions, and a measurable outcome you can recite without fumbling.
Negotiate on total comp, not just base
Wholesale AE offers almost always include a commission structure or quarterly incentive plan. Before you accept or counter, ask for the on-target earnings breakdown so you know whether the variable component is realistic given average rep attainment in the territory.
Wholesale Account Executive Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most wholesale account executives?
The companies hiring the most wholesale account executives right now include First American Bank, JMAC Lending, and Paramount Residential Mortgage, with the largest share of openings in New York, Florida, and California, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Demand is especially strong in consumer goods, industrial distribution, and healthcare supply.
How many wholesale account executive jobs are remote?
About 67% of wholesale account executive openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though most roles still require regular in-territory travel to meet buyers and manage accounts in person. Inside sales and national account roles skew most remote, while field territory roles almost always require a local presence.
How do you become a wholesale account executive?
Start by building experience in B2B sales, inside sales, or a customer-facing distribution role where you manage accounts and close deals. Move into a territory representative or junior account executive role to learn channel mechanics and buyer relationships. From there, consistent quota attainment and the ability to open new accounts are what drive promotion to a full wholesale AE title.
Can you get hired as a wholesale account executive with little experience?
Yes, entry-level wholesale account executive roles exist, particularly at regional distributors and manufacturers who hire candidates with retail buying, inside sales, or merchandising backgrounds. Emphasize any experience managing vendor relationships, negotiating pricing, or presenting product lines to buyers, even if it came from a less formal sales context.
What does the wholesale account executive interview process look like?
Most processes run three to four rounds. A phone screen with a recruiter is typically first, followed by a hiring manager interview focused on your sales process and territory experience. Finalists usually meet a sales director or VP and may complete a territory plan or mock pitch exercise. References are checked before an offer is extended.
Where can I find and apply to wholesale account executive jobs?
You can find and apply to wholesale account executive jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and target industry, and apply directly to each one that fits.
