Sales Specialist Jobs in Iowa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales specialist in Iowa?
Most sales specialist roles in Iowa require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a field aligned with the product you will sell, such as agriculture, finance, or healthcare. Iowa does not require a general state sales license, but specialists selling insurance products must hold an active Iowa insurance producer license issued through the Iowa Insurance Division. Building experience in account management or customer-facing roles is the most direct path to specialist-level positions.
Which companies hire sales specialists in Iowa?
Companies currently hiring sales specialists in Iowa include Russell Cellular, Best Buy, and OneMain Financial, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Iowa's strong base of agricultural, financial services, and manufacturing employers means demand for specialists with industry-specific product knowledge tends to remain consistent year-round.
Which Iowa cities have the most sales specialist jobs?
Davenport, Des Moines, and West Des Moines have the most sales specialist openings in Iowa. Des Moines drives the largest share through its concentration of financial services headquarters, insurance carriers, and healthcare systems, while Cedar Rapids and Davenport draw volume from manufacturing, agribusiness, and regional distribution operations that rely heavily on territory-based sales teams.
Are there remote sales specialist jobs in Iowa?
Yes, and they are fairly common for sales roles that focus on inside sales, SaaS, or financial products rather than on-site territory work. About 83% of sales specialist openings tied to Iowa are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how many Iowa employers have built distributed sales teams since shifting away from fully in-office models. Inside sales and account management positions are the sub-roles most likely to offer full remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a sales specialist in Iowa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a sales development representative or account coordinator role, which large Iowa employers such as Principal Financial Group, Plex Systems customers, or regional agricultural distributors regularly hire for without requiring prior quota history. Community colleges across Iowa, including Des Moines Area Community College, offer business and professional sales certificates that strengthen a resume. Lateral moves from customer service, retail banking, or crop insurance support roles are recognized pathways, and completing a relevant Iowa insurance producer license gives candidates a measurable credential edge.
Where can I find and apply to sales specialist jobs in Iowa?
You can find and apply to sales specialist jobs in Iowa on Migrate Mate, which lists current Iowa openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your background, industry focus, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
