About the Opportunity
Concordant LLC seeks a Junior Network Security Analyst to support the Office of Cybersecurity at a South Carolina state agency. You will join a team of experienced professionals on an ongoing, fast-moving project and report to the agency’s Security Operations Center (SOC) lead. Location Requirement
- 5 days per week onsite in downtown Columbia, SC
- We will only consider candidates who currently live in South Carolina
- The second-round interview takes place onsite
What You Will Do
- Investigate and respond to daily network security alerts
- Perform network security assessments for proposed firewall and infrastructure changes
- Review connectivity, website block, and firewall rule requests to confirm they do not create elevated risk
- Analyze on-premise and cloud networks for potential threats
- Develop and analyze network traffic reports that flag violations of approved ports, protocols, and services standards
- Participate in firewall configuration reviews and ruleset recertification
- Monitor emerging threat vectors and recommend countermeasures
- Support cloud and on-premise network changes and enhancement projects
- Help maintain compliance with CMS ARC-AMPE, HIPAA, and SCDIS-200
- Assist with KPI creation and trend report monitoring
- Collaborate across the agency to implement security controls and guide technical teams on best practices
- Perform additional SOC duties as assigned
What You Bring (Required)
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in network design, implementation, or support
- Hands-on experience in IT security or system administration
- Working knowledge of secure network design, security architecture, compliance tools, data protection, and access models
- Ability to analyze logs, alerts, and network telemetry
- Hands-on experience with routing and switching, enterprise firewalls, IDS/IPS platforms, network auditing, and network security monitoring
- Experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus or Qualys
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- A network security certification such as PCNSE or CCNA
Nice to Have (Preferred)
- Experience in regulated environments, health IT, or state government
- Familiarity with FISMA, NIST RMF, CMS ARC-AMPE, and HIPAA security and privacy standards
- SIEM experience, especially QRadar or Splunk
- Cloud network security experience in Azure or AWS
