We are looking for a skilled Cloud Engineer to join our State and Local Platforms and Data Managed Services team. As a core member of our operations group, you will work across multiple client environments, implementing, maintaining, and supporting cloud infrastructure and services. You’ll collaborate internal teams and clients to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of cloud-based systems, following industry standards and meeting service-level agreements (SLAs). This is a hybrid position that may require periodic travel to customer facilities. Candidate must be within commuting distance of Columbia, SC.
Essential Duties:
- Deploy, configure, and provide day-to-day operational support for client cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, and/or hybrid).
- Implement and maintain cloud resources, including compute, storage, networking, and security components for multiple clients.
- Support cloud migrations, new implementations, system upgrades, and integrations, working closely with project teams and client contacts.
- Automate routine operational tasks using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation) and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Monitor system health, performance, cost, and security alerts across client environments, proactively resolving issues and escalating as needed.
- Respond to incidents and service requests per contractual SLAs, providing detailed troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and resolution documentation.
- Enforce client-specific security requirements, access controls, and backup/recovery procedures in accordance with compliance standards and best practices.
- Maintain detailed environment documentation, change logs, and knowledge base articles for all assigned clients.
- Collaborate with Service Desk and NOC teams to deliver excellent, consistent support for all managed cloud services customers.
- Stay current with new cloud services, features, and best practices; contribute to service improvements and process optimization.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support as required.
Required Skills & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years hands-on experience supporting, maintaining, or operating cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), ideally in a managed services or MSP environment.
- Strong understanding of core cloud services (compute, storage, networking, identity, security, backup/recovery).
- Experience with configuration, monitoring, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation, etc.).
- Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Familiarity with service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, ConnectWise), ticketing systems, and ITIL practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time while supporting multiple clients and projects.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Industry certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) are a strong plus.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), TIC 3.0, and security controls
- Exposure to AI/ML tooling within AWS or Azure (e.g., Bedrock, SageMaker, Comprehend, Lex, Azure OpenAI)
- Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps, and automation tools is desirable.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2) is advantageous.

The proposed salary for this position is:
$78,800 - $131,400 USD
