Security And Compliance Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security and compliance professional in Texas?
Most security and compliance roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, business, information systems, or a related field, along with industry certifications. Texas does not have a single state-issued license for the field, but certifications such as CISA, CISSP, or Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional are widely expected. Employers in Texas's regulated sectors, including banking, energy, and healthcare, often treat these credentials as hiring requirements rather than preferences.
How much do security and compliances make in Texas?
Security and compliances in Texas earn a median of about $129,890 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,990 for the lowest 10% to over $178,550 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security and compliances in Texas?
Employers hiring security and compliances in Texas right now include Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major energy companies, and large regional banks means consistent demand across both corporate compliance and information security functions.
Which Texas cities have the most security and compliance jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Arlington have the most security and compliance openings in Texas. Dallas leads because of its density of financial institutions, insurance companies, and corporate headquarters, while Houston's energy sector and medical center drive steady demand, and Austin's fast-growing technology industry has made it one of the most active markets in the state for cybersecurity and regulatory compliance roles.
Are there remote security and compliance jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. Desk-based compliance and information security work is well suited to remote or hybrid arrangements, since most tasks involve documentation, analysis, and system access rather than physical presence. About 15% of security and compliance openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. Roles in policy development, third-party risk management, and regulatory reporting are the most consistently listed as remote.
How can I get hired as a security and compliance professional in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a compliance analyst, risk analyst, or information security analyst at a large Texas employer with formal early-career programs. JPMorgan Chase, Dell Technologies, and major Texas health systems such as Texas Health Resources regularly hire candidates through rotational or associate programs designed for people building their first years of experience. Earning an entry-level certification like CompTIA Security+ or a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager associate credential before applying gives candidates a measurable edge over those without credentials.
Where can I find and apply to security and compliance jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to security and compliance jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state right now. Search by role, city, or specialty to see what matches your background, then apply directly to the positions that fit.
