Legal Business Associate Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a legal business associate in Texas?
Most legal business associate roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in business administration, legal studies, or a related field, and some employers prefer candidates with a paralegal certificate from an American Bar Association-approved program. Texas does not require state licensure for legal business associates, but obtaining a paralegal certification through the National Association of Legal Professionals or a similar body strengthens candidacy. Larger firms and corporate legal departments in Houston and Dallas often prefer candidates who can demonstrate familiarity with Texas civil procedure and transactional practices.
How much do legal business associates make in Texas?
Legal business associates in Texas earn a median of about $62,310 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $39,190 for the lowest 10% to over $98,440 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire legal business associates in Texas?
Employers hiring legal business associates in Texas right now include USAA, Deloitte, and MedEx Reviews, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, financial institutions, and large in-house legal departments makes it one of the more consistent markets nationally for this role.
Which Texas cities have the most legal business associate jobs?
Dallas, Denton, and Frisco have the most legal business associate openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense concentration of energy, petrochemical, and financial services headquarters with large in-house legal teams, while Dallas draws demand from corporate law firms and financial services, and Austin's expanding tech and government sectors increasingly support dedicated legal business operations.
Are there remote legal business associate jobs in Texas?
Yes, and they're more available than in many legal roles. About 33% of legal business associate openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based, document-driven nature of much of the work. Contract review, compliance coordination, and matter management tasks tend to be the most frequently offered in remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a legal business associate in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to law firm runner, legal administrator, or legal secretary roles at mid-size Texas firms in Houston or Dallas, which routinely promote internally into associate positions. Large Texas employers such as energy majors and regional banks often post junior legal operations roles open to candidates with a relevant degree and no prior legal work history. Earning a paralegal certificate from a Texas-based ABA-approved program gives candidates a concrete credential, and internship experience from a Texas law school clinic carries weight with firms that recruit from local campuses.
Where can I find and apply to legal business associate jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to legal business associate jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across law firms, corporate legal departments, and government agencies. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly without creating an account or signing up.
