PRACTICE/SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:
Riveron is searching for an Assistant General Counsel to serve as a valued business partner to its client engagement leadership, Finance, Human Resources, and Talent Acquisition teams, and other key internal clients. The Assistant General Counsel will work closely with the Chief Legal Officer to provide strategic legal advice and support across a broad range of corporate, commercial, regulatory, and operational matters. This role will serve as a key legal advisor to business stakeholders, with primary responsibility for overseeing commercial contracting, international compliance initiatives, litigation, labor and employment matters and supervising internal legal staff and outside counsel.
AS A TEAM MEMBER, YOU WILL:
- Provide practical, business-oriented legal counsel on corporate, commercial, regulatory, employment, privacy, and operational matters
- Develop, implement, and maintain company policies, procedures, and compliance controls to support domestic and international operations
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the legal department, including legal workflows, matter management, contract management and conflict systems, and outside counsel relationships and billings
- Supervise, mentor, and manage staff counsel, legal operations professionals, and other members of the legal department
- Coordinate and manage outside counsel on litigation and specialized legal issues
- Support corporate governance activities, including entity management and related filings
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements and strategic transactions, including client engagement letters and professional services agreements, non-reliance letters, confidentiality agreements, and other agreements supporting the company’s client engagement and service delivery efforts
- Partner cross-functionally with finance, HR, IT, and business segments to identify and mitigate legal risk and optimize commercial contracting lifecycles
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the company’s business operations and advise leadership regarding emerging risks and compliance obligations
- Assist with internal investigations, dispute resolution, audits, and regulatory inquiries as needed
- Provide internal legal support on acquisitions and other strategic transactions
- Work with the company’s General Counsel to meet the company’s needs for high quality legal support in the areas of insurance, real estate, and intellectual property
YOUR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:
- Juris doctor degree required
- Valid bar admission, with eligibility for admission to Illinois, New York or Texas bar
- 8+ years of legal experience (8-10 years preferred)
- In-house legal experience preferred
- Experience providing legal support to a consulting firm or similar professional services business highly preferred
