Assistant General Counsel Jobs in Austin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a assistant general counsel job in Austin?
Focus your search on Austin's tech and SaaS companies clustered around the Domain and downtown, as well as the growing fintech and healthcare sectors along Research Boulevard and the Medical District. Candidates with experience in commercial contracts, intellectual property, or regulatory compliance have a clear edge in this market. Tailoring your background to the specific legal needs of high-growth tech companies will set you apart from generalist applicants.
Which companies hire assistant general counsels in Austin?
Employers hiring assistant general counsels in Austin right now include Apple, Beckman Coulter Life Sciences, and MEDS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Austin's hiring pool is particularly deep among technology companies, healthcare systems, and financial services firms that have established or relocated their headquarters and legal teams to the city.

How can I get a assistant general counsel job in Austin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Austin is joining a fast-growing technology or startup company as a junior in-house counsel or contracts attorney, where smaller legal teams give newer attorneys broader exposure than a large firm would. Austin accelerators and the University of Texas law school network both connect candidates to startups actively building out their first in-house legal function. Demonstrating comfort with commercial contracts and corporate governance matters most to Austin employers at the entry level.
