Contracts Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a contracts manager in Texas?
Most contracts manager roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, law, or a related discipline. Texas does not issue a state-specific license for contracts managers, but employers in defense and government contracting strongly favor candidates who hold a Certified Federal Contracts Manager credential from the National Contract Management Association. Building experience in contracts administration, procurement, or a related role is the typical path into a manager-level position.
Which companies hire contracts managers in Texas?
Employers hiring contracts managers in Texas right now include Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, Quanta Infrastructure Solutions, and Alvarez & Marsal, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of defense primes, energy majors, and large general contractors means demand for contracts managers is consistent across both the private sector and government-facing organizations throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most contracts manager jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Austin have the most contracts manager openings in Texas. Houston's energy industry and port-related construction drive the largest share of postings, while Dallas draws from a broad mix of corporate headquarters and defense suppliers, and San Antonio's substantial federal military presence at Joint Base San Antonio and surrounding defense contractors generates steady government contracting demand.
Are there remote contracts manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, because contracts management is largely desk-based work involving document review, negotiation, and compliance tracking. About 13% of contracts manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting employer flexibility for experienced professionals. The most remote-friendly sub-areas tend to be software, technology, and commercial contracts, while construction and government site-specific roles more often require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a contracts manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a contracts administrator or procurement coordinator role, which serves as the direct pipeline to a manager-level position at most large Texas employers. Defense and aerospace firms in the San Antonio and Dallas-Fort Worth areas, including major prime contractors, regularly hire junior contracts administrators for entry-level government contracting work. Earning the NCMA's Certified Commercial Contracts Manager credential early, or completing a paralegal or supply chain certificate at a Texas community college, gives candidates a measurable edge when competing without direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to contracts manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to contracts manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across defense, energy, construction, and commercial sectors. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to each employer through the listings.
