GENERAL SUMMARY:
Support and optimize automated pharmacy systems and related operations across the health system. This role is heavily focused on automation and associated activities while partnering with pharmacy, nursing and multidisciplinary teams. Optimizing an Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC) for central replenishment focuses on improving inventory accuracy, reducing stockouts, minimizing expired meds, and streaming pharmacy workflow.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the functional and operational integrity of automated dispensing systems (e.g., end-user profiles, troubleshooting, service follow-up, audits/ cycle counts, upgrades).
- Support automation implementations (setup, inventory assignments) and coordinate with vendors and IT Partners
- Act as liaison with Nursing Management to monitor/ communicate medication discrepancies and support resolution.
- Run, monitor, and help interpret automation and controlled substance reports; communicate trends that support diversion monitoring and medication safety.
- Participate on projects teams to improve workflows, efficiency and services levels.
- Provide core pharmacy technician services as needed (as assigned)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Requires high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Requires at least two (2) years of experience as an inpatient pharmacy technician(for inpatient setting) OR two (2) years of experience as a pharmacy technician for all others.
- Two (2) years of experience with automated pharmacy dispensing systems preferred.
- PC skills as needed to perform job functions as assigned.
- Strong verbal/written skills; availability for on-call system support; highly analytical ability to solve complex technical problems.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints.
- Flexibility to deal with ever-changing health care environment.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
- Strong Excel skills

- Valid State of MI pharmacy technician licensure required.
