Senior Contract Manager Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior contract manager in Pennsylvania?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or law combined with progressive contract management experience. Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license for this role, but earning the NCMA Certified Professional Contracts Manager credential significantly strengthens candidacy. Employers in defense and government contracting in Pennsylvania typically require familiarity with FAR and DFARS, while healthcare-sector employers prioritize vendor agreement and compliance experience.
How much do senior contract managers make in Pennsylvania?
Senior contract managers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $100,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $61,600 for the lowest 10% to over $160,560 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior contract managers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring senior contract managers in Pennsylvania right now include Allegheny Health Network, CSL, and Mirion, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of defense contractors, large health systems, and utility companies makes it one of the more consistent states for sustained contract management hiring outside of seasonal cycles.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most senior contract manager jobs?
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Berwyn have the most senior contract manager openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia's dense mix of life sciences firms, health systems, and corporate headquarters drives the largest volume, while Pittsburgh's strength in technology, energy, and healthcare creates steady demand, and Harrisburg's proximity to state government and defense agencies supports a distinct pipeline of public-sector contracting roles.
Are there remote senior contract manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than many fields, since contract review, negotiation, and compliance work is largely document-driven and well-suited to remote delivery. About 80% of senior contract manager openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broader trends in professional and legal services roles. The most remote-friendly work tends to be commercial contract administration and software licensing, while roles tied to defense facilities or on-site vendor oversight typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a senior contract manager in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a contracts administrator, procurement analyst, or purchasing coordinator at a large Pennsylvania employer and building toward senior responsibilities over time. Health systems such as UPMC and Jefferson Health, defense contractors operating near Philadelphia and Valley Forge, and state government agencies in Harrisburg regularly hire entry-level contract or procurement staff. Completing an NCMA certification program or a paralegal certificate focused on business contracts can accelerate advancement into senior roles from these starting points.
