Senior Contract Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior contract manager in Texas?
Most senior contract managers in Texas reach the role through a combination of a bachelor's degree in business, law, or supply chain management and several years of progressively responsible contract administration experience. Texas does not require a state-issued license for contract management, but employers strongly favor candidates holding the Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) or Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) credential from the National Contract Management Association. Defense and government-facing roles typically also require working knowledge of federal acquisition regulations.
How much do senior contract managers make in Texas?
Senior contract managers in Texas earn a median of about $98,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,460 for the lowest 10% to over $162,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior contract managers in Texas?
Employers hiring senior contract managers in Texas right now include Quanta Infrastructure Solutions, Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, and Houston Methodist, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's deep concentration of defense primes, energy majors, and large healthcare systems means demand for experienced contract professionals stays consistent across economic cycles.
Which Texas cities have the most senior contract manager jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Austin have the most senior contract manager openings in Texas. Houston leads because of the energy sector and large EPC firms headquartered there, Dallas draws demand from technology companies and corporate headquarters, and San Antonio's concentration of military installations and defense contractors sustains steady federal procurement roles.
Are there remote senior contract manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, since contract review, negotiation, and vendor management are largely desk-based functions that translate well to remote work. About 21% of senior contract manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how widely employers in this field have adopted flexible arrangements. Fully remote roles are most common in technology and SaaS vendor contracting, while defense and construction contracts more often require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a senior contract manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to start as a contract administrator or procurement analyst, roles that large Texas employers in energy, defense, and healthcare hire in volume and use as a pipeline to senior positions. Companies like Fluor, USAA, and major health systems such as HCA Houston Healthcare regularly bring on junior contract staff with strong analytical backgrounds. Pursuing the NCMA's Certified Commercial Contracts Manager credential early signals commitment to the profession and gives candidates a concrete edge over others at the same experience level.
