How do you become a managing consultant in Texas?
Most managing consultants in Texas enter through a bachelor's or MBA program in business, engineering, economics, or a related discipline, then build experience in an analyst or consultant role before advancing. Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as a managing consultant. Employers in Texas typically promote candidates who hold recognized certifications such as the Project Management Professional or a Lean Six Sigma credential, and who have a record of leading client engagements.
How much do managing consultants make in Texas?
Managing consultants in Texas earn a median of about $101,400 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,730 for the lowest 10% to over $168,420 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire managing consultants in Texas?
Employers hiring managing consultants in Texas right now include KPMG, ADAPTOVATE, and CohnReznick, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy headquarters in Houston and technology firms in Austin and Dallas means consulting demand stays consistent across both legacy industries and fast-growing sectors.
Which Texas cities have the most managing consultant jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Austin have the most managing consultant openings in Texas. Houston drives volume through its energy, engineering, and healthcare anchor industries, while Dallas supports large consulting practices tied to financial services, logistics, and corporate headquarters, and Austin's expanding technology sector has created steady advisory demand from both established firms and high-growth companies.
Are there remote managing consultant jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 19% of managing consultant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of much of the work.
