Senior Electronics Engineer Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior electronics engineer in Pennsylvania?
Most senior electronics engineers in Pennsylvania reach the role through a bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics engineering followed by several years of progressively responsible design experience. Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license for private-sector engineering roles, though engineers offering services directly to the public may pursue Professional Engineer licensure through the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers. Defense and aerospace employers in the state frequently require candidates to hold or be eligible for a federal security clearance.
How much do senior electronics engineers make in Pennsylvania?
Senior electronics engineers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $121,260 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,690 for the lowest 10% to over $170,150 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior electronics engineers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring senior electronics engineers in Pennsylvania right now include Johnson Controls, Eaton, and Wabtec, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of defense contractors, medical device manufacturers, and semiconductor firms along the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh corridors keeps demand from these and similar employers consistently active.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most senior electronics engineer jobs?
New Freedom, Erie, and Philadelphia account for the largest share of senior electronics engineer openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs drive volume through defense primes, medical device companies, and semiconductor operations, while Pittsburgh's strength in robotics, autonomy, and advanced manufacturing supports a distinct cluster of hardware engineering roles outside the eastern corridor.
Are there remote senior electronics engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they're rare. Hardware-focused engineering roles typically require hands-on lab access, prototype builds, and test equipment that can't be replicated remotely. About 50% of senior electronics engineer openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to involve systems architecture, technical review, or pre-silicon design work rather than physical board bring-up or integration testing.
How can I get hired as a senior electronics engineer in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a new-graduate or associate engineer role at one of Pennsylvania's large defense or medical device employers, where structured rotational programs exist to build hands-on experience. Lockheed Martin and Siemens both run early-career engineering programs at their Pennsylvania sites. Candidates who come from adjacent roles such as electronics technician, test engineer, or firmware developer and who hold an EIT designation or have a strong project portfolio from coursework or personal builds tend to move into junior engineering positions faster.
Where can I find and apply to senior electronics engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to senior electronics engineer jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
