IREN is building the infrastructure behind the next era of AI. We design, build, and operate massive-scale data centers, and we’re racing to deploy some of the largest fleets of GPU and CPU compute on the planet. This isn’t incremental growth — it’s a full-throttle sprint to power the frontier of AI and high-performance computing. Our Technical Sourcing team sits at the center of that mission, securing the compute, services, and partnerships that let IREN move faster than anyone else in the industry.
The Role
IREN is looking for a Technical Sourcing Manager, Server & Storage Platforms to take full ownership of our most critical OEM and ODM relationships. This is not a support role — you’ll be the commercial and operational owner of multimillion-dollar partnerships, driving the negotiations, pricing strategy, and supply commitments that determine how fast IREN can build.
If you love the adrenaline of a supply-constrained market, thrive on high-stakes negotiation, and want to see your work show up as racks going live in a live data center within weeks of your decisions — this is the seat for you. You’ll operate with real autonomy, direct executive visibility, and the mandate to shape how IREN sources Server & Storage Platforms at hyperscale.
- 8+ years of experience in technical sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, with direct experience sourcing compute or storage hardware from a major server OEM and/or ODM.
- Proven track record sourcing server/compute or storage hardware in a data center, hyperscale, cloud, or AI/HPC environment.
- Deep understanding of server architecture, GPU-based compute platforms, and component-level supply chains (CPUs, GPUs, memory, storage, networking).
- Demonstrated success negotiating complex, high-value commercial agreements and managing multimillion-dollar OEM and ODM relationships.
- Battle-tested experience navigating supply-constrained/allocation-based markets (e.g., GPU shortages) and building mitigation strategies that actually work.
- Sharp analytical instincts — comfortable building cost models, TCO analyses, and forecasts under pressure.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills; equally at home with engineering, operations, finance, and legal.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Existing relationships within a major OEM’s and/or ODM’s enterprise/infrastructure account team.
- Experience sourcing for AI training/inference infrastructure at scale (thousands of GPUs).
- Deep familiarity with data center commissioning timelines and how hardware delivery integrates with provisioning and rack integration schedules.

Tips for Your Senior Storage Engineer Job Search
Quantify storage scale on your resume
Hiring managers want to see the scope of environments you've managed. List the raw capacity you've administered, the number of nodes or arrays, and the performance thresholds you maintained. Vague claims like 'large-scale environments' won't compete with specifics.
Map your certifications to each posting
Storage roles vary widely in vendor focus. Before applying, check whether the job emphasizes NetApp, Pure Storage, Dell EMC, or a cloud-native stack, then lead with the certifications and hands-on tools that match that vendor's ecosystem.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists senior storage engineer openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target postings that name your protocols
Filter openings by the protocols you know best, whether Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NVMe-oF, or S3-compatible object storage. Roles that call out your specific protocols by name are far more likely to move your application forward quickly.
Prepare a capacity-planning scenario for interviews
Senior storage engineer interviews frequently include a whiteboard or verbal exercise where you walk through a capacity-planning decision. Practice narrating your reasoning aloud, including how you weigh IOPS requirements, tiering strategy, and budget constraints.
Negotiate on scope, not just base compensation
Storage engineers often have leverage around lab access, hardware budgets, and on-call rotation terms. Before accepting an offer, clarify whether you'll have authority over vendor selection and architecture decisions, since those affect your long-term career development.
Senior Storage Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most senior storage engineers?
The companies hiring the most senior storage engineers right now include Amazon Web Services, NVIDIA, and Amazon, with the largest share of openings in California, Texas, and Washington, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Demand is strongest at large enterprises, cloud providers, and managed service organizations with significant on-premises and hybrid infrastructure.
How many senior storage engineer jobs are remote?
About 65% of senior storage engineer openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though many roles still require some on-site presence for hardware maintenance and datacenter work. Cloud-focused and software-defined storage positions tend to offer the most flexibility, while roles tied to physical SAN or tape infrastructure are more likely to be on-site.
How do you become a senior storage engineer?
Start by building hands-on experience in storage administration, typically through roles in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or datacenter operations. Develop deep expertise in at least one enterprise storage platform, earn a vendor certification such as NetApp Certified Data Administrator or Pure Storage FlashArray Certified, and progress through projects that involve architecture decisions, capacity planning, and disaster recovery design.
Can you get hired as a senior storage engineer with limited experience?
Breaking directly into a senior role with limited experience is difficult because most postings require hands-on expertise with enterprise platforms and complex environments. The most effective path is to take a storage administrator or junior storage engineer role first, focus on projects involving SAN migrations or cloud integration, and build a portfolio of architecture work that demonstrates senior-level judgment before applying upward.
What does the senior storage engineer interview process look like?
Most interviews begin with a recruiter screen followed by a technical phone interview covering storage fundamentals, protocol knowledge, and your experience with specific vendor platforms. Later rounds typically include a technical deep-dive where you walk through a past architecture decision or work through a capacity-planning scenario, and a final interview with engineering leadership that focuses on cross-functional collaboration and long-term infrastructure strategy.
Where can I find and apply to senior storage engineer jobs?
You can find and apply to senior storage engineer jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to each listing that fits.
