About UWorld
UWorld is a global leader in comprehensive academic and professional education, helping millions of students and professionals prepare for and succeed on high-stakes examinations across medicine, nursing, accounting, law, finance, and more. Our products are trusted because we understand what it takes to succeed when the stakes are high. Our marketing team has the opportunity to bring that same level of excellence, creativity, and impact to how UWorld shows up in the world. We're looking for a Head of Social Media who can take our social presence to the next level.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional social media management role. We're looking for a social-first marketing leader, creative strategist, and people manager who understands how to build brands, create culture, and turn attention into meaningful business results. As Head of Social Media, you will own the vision, strategy, and execution of UWorld's social media presence across our growing portfolio of brands and educational products. You'll lead a team of social media professionals and work closely with creative, content, product marketing, and business teams to develop campaigns and content that people actually want to see, share, save, and engage with. You'll have the opportunity to shape how millions of students and professionals experience UWorld online. The ideal candidate is equal parts strategist, storyteller, creative director, trend-spotter, and leader. You know what makes people stop scrolling, but you also know how to connect creativity to brand, audience, and business objectives.
What You'll Own
Social Media Strategy & Vision:
- Develop and own UWorld's overarching social media strategy across platforms, audiences, and business verticals
- Establish a clear social media vision that strengthens UWorld's brand awareness, relevance, and competitive position
- Identify emerging platforms, formats, technologies, trends, and cultural moments that can help UWorld connect with its audiences in new ways
- Develop annual and quarterly social strategies, content priorities, campaign calendars, and measurable goals
- Serve as UWorld's social media subject matter expert and strategic advisor to senior leadership and cross-functional teams
Brand & Creative Leadership:
- Define and evolve UWorld's social voice, personality, and creative approach while maintaining consistency with overall brand standards
- Establish a distinctive social presence that feels authentic, relevant, intelligent, and engaging—not simply promotional
- Lead the development of creative concepts, campaigns, recurring content franchises, and social-first storytelling
- Partner with designers, videographers, copywriters, and other creative resources to bring ideas to life
- Challenge the team to experiment, test new formats, and continually raise the creative bar
- Ensure content reflects the quality, credibility, and innovation associated with the UWorld brand
Content & Audience Engagement:
- Oversee the social content strategy across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, X, and emerging channels
- Develop content strategies tailored to different audiences, including students, educators, healthcare professionals, accounting and finance professionals, and other exam-preparation audiences
- Balance evergreen content, educational content, community engagement, campaigns, trending content, and product-focused storytelling
- Develop strategies that encourage conversation, community, sharing, and organic advocacy
- Ensure UWorld remains culturally relevant while maintaining the credibility expected of an education leader
- Establish a strong social listening and community engagement strategy
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing social media team
- Establish clear priorities, goals, workflows, and performance expectations
- Coach team members on strategy, creative development, platform best practices, and professional growth
- Foster a culture of creativity, experimentation, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Identify opportunities to expand capabilities and resources as UWorld's social presence grows
Growth & Performance:
- Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks that measure the impact of social media on awareness, engagement, audience growth, website traffic, leads, and revenue
- Analyze performance data and translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Continuously test and optimize content, creative, messaging, timing, platforms, and campaigns
- Present social media performance, insights, opportunities, and recommendations to executive leadership
- Partner with marketing analytics and performance marketing teams to connect social activity to broader marketing and business outcomes
- Use data to inform creative decisions without losing sight of the human side of social media
Cross-Functional Partnership:
- Collaborate closely with Product Marketing, Brand, Creative, Content, Communications, and other marketing teams
- Partner with product marketing leaders to translate product value propositions into compelling social stories
- Work with internal subject-matter experts to identify opportunities for thought leadership and authentic educational content
- Develop integrated campaigns that connect social media with broader marketing initiatives, product launches, events, and business priorities
- Serve as an advocate for the audience and the social experience across the organization
Requirements
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in social media, digital marketing, content marketing, brand marketing, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated success developing and executing social media strategies for a recognizable brand or organization
- Experience managing, mentoring, and developing a social media or digital marketing team
- Strong understanding of major social platforms and how content strategies should differ by platform and audience
- Deep understanding of social media trends, algorithms, audience behavior, influencers/creators, and emerging platforms
- Proven ability to develop creative concepts and content strategies that generate meaningful engagement
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate social performance data into clear business recommendations
- Experience presenting strategy, performance, and recommendations to senior or executive leadership
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong understanding of AP style, brand guidelines, and editorial standards
- Ability to balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution when needed
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- A collaborative leadership style and a genuine passion for developing people
- A strong point of view on what makes great social media—and the confidence to champion it
The Ideal Candidate
You might be a great fit if you:
- Know the difference between creating content and creating a brand people want to follow
- Can look at a social feed and immediately identify what is working, what isn't, and what should happen next
- Understand that every platform has its own language, culture, and audience expectations
- Are naturally curious about emerging trends and constantly asking, "What if we tried this?"
- Can move comfortably between executive-level strategy and creative brainstorming
- Are equally comfortable reviewing analytics and reviewing a TikTok
- Know how to build a team while also holding people accountable for results
- Have a strong creative point of view but are open to testing, learning, and changing course
- Understand that great social content doesn't always look like an advertisement
- Are passionate about building communities—not just accumulating followers
