Software Support Specialist Jobs in Norfolk: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a software support specialist job in Norfolk?
Focus your search on Norfolk's defense contractors, hospital networks, and managed service providers, which consistently post software support roles. The Downtown Norfolk tech corridor and the areas surrounding Naval Station Norfolk concentrate the most openings. Candidates who combine hands-on ticketing system experience with familiarity with government or healthcare IT environments stand out in this market. Networking through local tech meetups and ODU career events also opens doors.
Which companies hire software support specialists in Norfolk?
Norfolk software support specialist roles are posted by Sentara, City of Norfolk, VA, and Leidos and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market skews toward defense contractors, regional health systems, and mid-size managed IT service firms with a strong footprint in the Hampton Roads area.

CompTIA A+ or ITIL Foundation credentials signal readiness to local hiring managers. ODU and Tidewater Community College both offer IT pathways that feed into local employer pipelines, and temp-to-hire IT staffing roles are common across the Hampton Roads corridor.
